I am considering of restoring my 7c43 and while im finding a donor movement or repair the current, I was considering repairing the case and dropping a 7548 in it.
Ive read people considering this or similar variant, but has anyone done it? Cam

I'm still looking for a definitive statement on dropping a 7c43 into a 6309 case. Debates about the stack height of the movement creating a crown stem alignment seem to persist. I have a TST'd 6309 case with a 7548 dial and rehaute and new 7c46 tuna hands I would like to mate with a 7c43-6xxx donor movement...

Pretty sure the dial between the 7c and 754x don’t match the feet position. I’m interested if the crown and stem swap and the height and need for movement spaces.

7C46 dial feet fit 6309 which means they fit 7548.
Not sure about crown and stack and all that scientific stuff.

I highly doubt it. They are completely different movement families. If these were a easy...or even viable...swap, there would be tons of pics, posts, pages, and how-tos about doing it.
Somebody would have done it by now.

Ok so I did some experimenting today. I have a 7c43-7000 case and a dead movement. I have a 7548 that’s ticking. 1- the 7548 & 7c43 crowns are the same but the stems are a different length. The shorter is the 7548 2- the feet on the 7c43 look like they will fit the dial but not without forcing. Which I didn’t do. 3- A 7548 movement, dial and crown swap in and case back locks down with the original retaining ring. I need a better hand set and a 7548 crown & stem or just a stem set if any one has any laying around they want to share. Not fussed about original.

I found a couple of old posts on SCWF and WUS that indicate a 7c43 movement was a direct drop into a 6309 or 7548 case but some other discussions questioning the crown stem alignment due to movement stack height differences with the 7c4x vs the 6309/754x. Had some back and forth with GuyJ about testing out the theory but I don't think he had tried it out yet.

Is it just me or does it look like the 7548 stem/crown on the picture may have been assembled incorrectly?
Another note, the stem looks very similar. If you have spares, maybe shave down that flange (right after the square hub)? Not sure how hard of a job that is though.
