Hello. My name is Andrew and I'm an horology addict. In my collection, I have several modern watches that are Seiko brand or have Seiko movements. I don't have a GS Spring Drive yet, but someday I will! I recently modded an SNZG11 with an NH35 movement w/ kanji day and put it on a NATO strap, and I love it so much!
I'm here because I bought a 6139-6005 (blue) manufactured the same year of my birth on eBay without doing much research to know what I was buying. I know there are a lot of frankenwatch horror stories, but I think I really lucked out: original case & dial with matching numbers; hands, chapter ring, and bracelet are all correct and show the appropriate patina and/or fading and (as far as I can tell) original movement in beautiful (recently serviced?) condition. It does have an an incorrect crown and stem and the lume is, well, it's greyed out. There is no other evidence of moisture penetration other than the lume. I've ordered NOS/OEM replacement stem, spring & gear, but haven't located a crown yet.
Anyway, I'm trying to decide what I want to do with this beautiful machine, and I'm looking forward to absorbing some of the collective knowledge of this forum.
Oh, my son has recently started to show great taste and just procured a modern JDM Seiko as the 5th watch in his collection.
Thank you all in advance.
Cheers, Andy

Welcome Andy! It’d be great if you could post some pics of your 6139 (and any other watches you feel like showing) so we can have a gander.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see that the young one is expressing an interest in watches.

Here she is. You can see the greyed out lume all around the dial. So far, my only plans are to have the dial and hands re-lumed and install the correct stem/spring/gear while looking for the correct crown.
