Hey guys. I thought I'd share this one, as the movement and model seem quite uncommon. From what I can gather, the 6660A hand winding movement is a higher grade variant of the 66 series movements. It has additional cap jewels and gold plated plates/bridges. There seem to be only five models 6660-(6000,7000,7010,7020,7030) and either stainless, gold plated or paladium plated variants. Photos and other information is pretty slim on the ground. I've only found 2-3 other examples of my 6660-7030, including a paladium plated model. I spotted it on Gumtree a couple of weeks ago. When it didn't sell I contacted the seller and negotiated a modest shipped price. His photos were terrible and he wasn't very clear on its running condition. It arrived last night and I polished the crystal and popped it (the movement comes out the front) to clean some spots off the dial and inside of the crystal. It's running ok, but the trace takes some odd swings so a service will be required if it's to be a regular wearer. I've been wanting a hand winding Seiko and this one looks quite cool - very space-age with its slim UFO shaped case and conical crown. The hands are an unusual shape too. And the nice gold movement could do with a clean. The only downsides - 36mm lug to lug distance makes it wear pretty small compared to my other 36mm watches and the steel hands on a steel dial don't make for great legibility.

Very cool find! Don't think I've ever seen a 6660A movement. Looks like it cleaned up rather nicely!

Great looking watch Tristan, nice find These are very simple to service. If you’ve serviced any SEIKO auto, you’ll have no trouble with this (unless you tackle the diafix...)

Good spot and grab Trist, and one of your straps on it I’m guessing?

Fantastic turnaround there Tritto ! What a great dial and hand set.
I love those gold colored (Rhodium plated?) 6XXX movements. So nice to look at.
Agreed that was a very futuristic case shape when it came out.
Congrats and thanks for the great write up too !

Good spot and grab Trist, and one of your straps on it I’m guessing? Yes, one of my straps. I'm not sure brown is the best match, but it was the easiest one to put on right away. I'm thinking that a blue one would look better when I get around to making another.

If you don't tackle the diafix, how do you oil the escape wheel etc? Part of my desire for a Seiko hand winder is because I'm most comfortable servicing hand winders. I'll give it a crack when I clear a couple of other jobs.

Well I found some posts indicating the plates were gold plated, but now that you mention it, rhodium makes a lot more sense. How did I fall for that 😀

Lazy, I know, but I’ve not had good experiences with those bloody diafix springs.

Follow my removal guide on YT and you should be OK with the diafix. Great looking watch Tristan, nice find These are very simple to service. I can vouch for this Nick, absolutely changed my view of diafix.

Congratulations. It finally came in today and figured I should add to this thread. Didn't realize that this was the rhodium plated case version but I'm not made at all. This one has definitely been serviced in the past and is running about +2 sec a day!
