You know, this is probably one of the nicer watches I own but I have come to realize that after owning it now for a couple of months it is probably the weirdest configuration of any I own! Its EXTREMELY bulky and sits not well on the wrist at all no matter what type of band I use and for some reason as bulky as it is Seiko made it to fit on a mere 18mm strap/bracelet which totally looks out of place!! I like the watch so dont get me wrong but its an entirely mis-configured watch IMO

That is a chunky watch, no doubt the owner needs to like having a bit of heft on the wrist to enjoy it. I still think if you spring for a fishbone, it'll hit home for you.

No doubt you are correct about the fishbone but that will have to wait! With the Holidays just around the corner I need to be saving up for them instead! I dont forsee any watches coming in until after the first of the year. In fact I may be selling a few in the very near future!?

I completely agree. This model is very cool, but really doesn't even look right on the factory bracelet. It's case/lug arrangement is just...weird. Personally, I like mine on this cuff strap... This combo isn't for everyone, but in the flesh the bulk of the strap makes the watch look a little less bulky and awkward. Plus, it's got that '70s vibe. Doesn't like to fit under the WWII replica A-2 flight jacket I like to wear, but it only pops over the cuff if I am really reaching.

A substantial strap like that doesn't look bad, it certainly does tame the beast a bit.

Other then the case itself being SO thick one of the major drawbacks with this watch is the lugs are so short and blunt almost as if they were cut off too short! Were they longer and curved so as to "wrap around" the wrist a bit more it would be fine! Adding a bulky leather strap such as yours only intensifies the thickness of the watch and makes it sit all that much higher off the wrist! I just measured the thickness of mine and it measures 15mm thick and even with the very thin Nato its on now it measures 17mm thick! As I said before........ the watch is beautiful but its a totally weird configuration!

I don't mind a watch sitting up, as long as it's controlled and comfortable.

You may just have a point there! Who sells cuff straps?

I know nothing about them, but HERE is a spot with some variety.

it's a really imposing case shape. Seiko was really serious about their bracelet designs, and in many cases made watches that really can only be worn successfully on the original intended bracelet. This is one of them, IMO.
Still a great watch though.

I just measured the thickness of mine and it measures 15mm thick and even with the very thin Nato its on now it measures 17mm thick! As I said before........ the watch is beautiful but its a totally weird configuration! This watch is looks awkward and clunky, no matter what strap it goes on. It has a thick case, and very odd lugs. As I said, I think it even looks kinda goofy on the original bracelet. This strap does make the watch sit about 3.5mm higher than it otherwise would, but the width of the strap really seems to make up for it. With the strap being 30mm wide, it makes the whole combination look less over-tall and as someone said, "tamer". It is hard to get a good pic of this combination because the camera wants to focus on the watch head...making it look much closer (and therefore larger) than it actually looks on the wrist. If you don't like thick watches that stick up off of your wrist, then this is probably the worst model you could own. Here is a picture from another angle. My wrists are only 6.5", and here the watch almost looks...small!
