You may have seen a poorly advertised job lot I acquired recently. If not - The watch on the left is this- It’s a very light titanium cased/ bracelet ecodrive with 2 interesting features. 1- a 1/1000 chronograph. See my little Insta vid here to see the top dial spinning at warp speed (slowed at end) http://instagram.com/p/CEIP53tnA42 2- a lap timer to calculate average lap speed ? For nascar? I love how specifically useless this watch is and reminds me of the helium escape valve on almost every dive watch rated for >200m in the last 5 years. The kicker if this watch is it’s insanely specific marketing. Before you watch it, think of citizens usual marketing, better starts now or higher, deeper, stronger better with their polished adds that contain exploded views and technical specs. Here is a link to watch likely the most polarizing watch add I will ever see. (Watch with sound but maybe use earphones if your in a work or quiet space. ) youtu.be/D2VGh4tNtiEWhat a crazy watch.

It really is insane. Puts the 7Ax8 and it's 1/20th of a second counter to shame.

I'd be pretty happy if I found that in a job lot.
Makes me wonder if any NASCAR fans or participants ever bought the watch based on the advertisement.

Just to clarify - does the fastest register hand do a full circuit in one 10th of a second? So then the 0 to 100 markings would indicate the 1000th measurement.

rossr That’s right the 1/1000 hand does a full loop to every 1/10th increment on the subdial. So 10 rotations a second on the minute hand and 1 of the hour hand on the middle subdial. I’ve put a longer vid on insta. So you can see it run. It slows at 2 sec and resumes speed at 4sec. http://instagram.com/p/CEI8mzinoaX

Sooo...the chronograph has a 1/1000th of a second digital display AAANNNDD a completely superfluous 1/1000th of a second analog display going at the same time?
I gotta say...if they are going after the NASCAR crowd with this commercial, they nailed it!

I gotta say...if they are going after the NASCAR crowd with this commercial, they nailed it! I’ve played with it a bit today. The analog display replicates the digital display chronograph but in honesty it only stops on the every ‘10th ‘ increment. So the analog display is really only a 1/100th. The other funny part, is there is no audio confirmation of start and stop. donj I’m assuming that by this you mean that no human would have the reflexes to accurately start and stop a wrist watch at 1/10 let alone 1/1000 accuracy.... This is why I started the thread- to document this ?superfluous? Timepiece. But that add... definitely the defining point of the time piece. I found it interesting it didn’t mention never needing a battery and only focused on the 1/1000 and a few other features.
