It is October 27th (somewhere) Day 27 of the October WRUW daily theme. Today's theme is “Wear your beater watch”
"Wear it like you stole it"
If you only own one (that is a lot of O's and N's) watch then that is your beater watch.
If you own more than 1 watch the one you wear with total disregard for it's wellbeing then that is your beater watch.
If you take every watch off near water including when you wash your hands except for 1 then that is your beater watch.
I wreck coins.
I try not to wreck new unmolested watches except for 1.
Maybe your beater watch is the same from the 8th “Wear a watch that was new / mint when you got it but is now wabi’d up” or maybe it is a watch you bought already worn out for the sole purpuse of continuing to wear it out and you drive it like you stole it.

This my beater now, blue dial Casio MTD-1053 (caseback and dial) which is identical to Casio MDV-101 apart for the case back and dial. Case and bracelet are from my MDV-101, dial and case back I swapped. The white dial one is my MDV-101 mod. I just swapped the dial and caseback into this brand new MTD-1053 case and bracelet combo. Both color combinations work surprisingly well!

This’ll be another outing for Captain Crusty then! Although to be honest I do have quite a lot of beaters, including a few G-Shocks.

It may not be beat yet, but this is the watch that goes on mountain bike rides, bushwalks, the gym, swimming, painting the roof etc. It does all this and it looks great to boot.

I already briefly wore my beater under the quartz theme, so I'm going with the TST today....

This one gets picked when I have to travel where outdoor activities, or anything more vigorous than a walk, are expected. It's got stories to tell.

I don’t have a beater as such, but whenever I’m doing stuff that might result in my watch getting dinged, this is the one I wear. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve bashed it against something, yet there doesn’t appear to be a mark on it!

Casios are superb beaters! Low cost, plenty of spares (especially their modern analogue offerings that use Miyota movements) and tough. The most memorable watch I have ever seen, was a Casio Marlin digital which the guy had received on his 15th birthday, and had worn it EVERY single day since then, and he was 50+ in years. He was a repair mechanic at a factory I worked, and his job included welding, repairing, maintenance etc. He clearly loved his watch!

Citizen 2100- This thing was already beat when I got it. Considered new crystal etc. but since I have another, and for $25, I proudly carried on it's beater status.

Today's Seiko golf tip of the day: when the most severe trouble is on the left, tee up on the left side of the box and hit away from it.
Wear a beater. Well my beater died a couple of months ago just sitting on my desk.
My local watchmaster said it looks like the mainspring is broken It died 7 years ago but Spencer was kind enough to offer a contest with a free watch servicing as a prize and I happened to win. I was going to wear my fathers 1 watch so it is automatically his beater since I had it at my house for a new battery. I bought that watch on Ebay as a "store display" model but when I got it the second hand just ticked in place. The seller gave me a refund and let me keep the watch so I gifted it to my local watchmaster as I couldn't fix it and wasn't going to pay to have it fixed. A while later he asked if I wanted it back for the cost of the new movement he put in it. I had no use for it so I gave it to my father. That was 2 years ago. This is how the watch looks now
Totally trashed, bracelet pin falling out, stretched
Last year I bought this one "Pre-Owned" with a chip already in the crystal. I wore it for a while at TNJ but since going back to TNXJ I can wear my watches again. wristsushi.proboards.com/post/248742/thread Want to see a 4 car pileup? There's that frost they forgot to talk about

This is my pick-up-and-go, rather than a “beater”. You don’t want to be caught with a boring, uninteresting timepiece.

My favorite beater is this 7N48-8A00. I bought this on eBay for $25 in 2005. I just love the all stainless material, black dial w/ Arabic markers, and Jubilee bracelet. It’s grab and go convenient. I haven’t set it since I don’t know when and it’s within a few seconds.

Several of my watches have this distinction. Earlier this month I shared my “beater” speedy pro. I also shared my son’s Orient “beater”. My Apple watch takes the crown though: I hope I don’t get banned for sharing these photos It's kind of like a government tracking device - but one idiots like me pay for themselves, and instead of attaching to your ankle, you wear this one on the wrist - though it comes with a longer strap version. If I am going to do yard work, go swimming, hiking, skydiving, skiing, surfing, fire fighting, airport hopping, binge drinking and bar brawling - or you name it - this is the go to. I’ve had a few of these now - they have all survived the (sometimes extreme) abuse quite well, but ultimately been shelved for upgraded sensors and features on newer models…. Nostalgic as I am, I keep them all, and they all still run fine: That is the 38mm, 40mm, 42mm, 44mm and 45mm evolution - like the iPhones, getting bigger most years. I literally sleep in this watch. It gently pulses on my wrist if I oversleep. It is on my wrist every morning recording my heart rate during exercise and recovery afterwards. It will remind me to get up and move around if I have been sitting at the computer (or TV) too long, and will keep track of how many times I have washed my hands, notify me if I am in a loud environment for too long, etc, etc. Apparently it will also call for help if it detects something very bad has happened to me. This is a rare accessory that you will see on people from every level of the social and economic ladder, from those convenience store clerks to hedge fund managers, and from artist to engineers to business execs. Its not a watch per-se, but it can be if you want it to be. In fact, these latest versions are so clever and configurable, you can really decide what you want it to be for you, with a high degree of flexibility. My gripe… I like to wear a mechanical watch most of the time and wish Apple made a “health bracelet” version (no need for a screen even) - that is really what I use mine as. Something small enough to be worn along side a wristwatch without feeling odd.. I tried the Fitbit alternatives, and at least for me, they just aren’t as good. The Oura ring is getting very good now (and is something I would highly recommend), but still doesn’t have all of the sensors and accuracy of the Apple Watch. A new possible future runner up in the mechanical “beater” category, and one I am very excited about, is this Weiss 42mm Field Watch: I have been after one of these LOS ANGELES dials for a while now. It wears large, but I love it and it will not end up being a box queen. Full disclosure, this is the watch I have been wearing for the last week or two, after spending mid-morning with our theme watches….

This is my yard work chainsaw and stumbling over rocky fields watch. I think I spent around $10 for it and another $15 to replace the battery. When it gets filthy I wash it off with the hose. It bangs into stuff and doesn't get scuffed. It's butt ugly but of all my watches, this is the real tool watch.
