It is October 29th (somewhere) Day 29 of the October WRUW daily theme. Today's theme is “Wear a watch on a leather strap”
Anyone here watch AHS on FX?
I have seen every season except Season 1 which I have but just never found the time to watch and the last season when they tried to extort viewers and make it "Online Pay Per View" only but I guess that didn't work out as they planned as this season is back on broadcast for us poor common folk
This season is AHS NYC.
It involves LEATHER.
If that is how you roll more power to you.
I don't like bracelets.
I don't like nylon straps.
I wear / wore my watches on leather straps.
I have said it and shown it for the last 20 years but the "powers that be" have erased history
Anywho put on some leather and watch out for "Big Daddy" who I am pretty sure is an adumbration of SUPER AIDS

This SPB047J1 has one of most comfortable and supple straps I’ve ever worn straight out of the box. Genuine crocodile leather, porcelain dial, dual-curved sapphire crystal, and those lovely blue hands. Just a quality timepiece.

Yeah, a tough one for me today. I have exactly one watch on a leather strap and I've already played that card this month. So this got cobbled together and looks pretty nice from afar. The band is one of those padded leather straps that has sealed edges over some packing in the middle layer. This band looks like an Oreo cookie from the side as it's blown open along most of the seam length. I used a craft glue gun to seal the seams back together and slapped it on my gold Slava 2427. Whew, close call!
I walked outside and took the photo against the fall foliage and came back in paying no attention to the time. What a coincidence that at the moment I took the photo all three hands had stacked.

I am a bracelet guy. Sometimes prefer rubber (divers in water) and very few times natos. Leather was rarely close to never an option for me. That was until one of my buddies (watch enthusiast) started to produce hand made leather straps with premium materials and factoring in his expertise and preferences as a first hand experiences of a WIS. www.7friendsandwatches.com I now have a leather strap (or more) for each watch in my collection (yes, divers included! end ofc excluding the gshocks ). This lizard strap was a custom made given the oddly dimensions of the lug width and buckle of my KS 45-7000. Speaking of this buckle … what a challenge to find one …

Today's Seiko golf tip of the day: the forward press is a good way to start your club away smoothly and easily. 2 X $aturday
Going to visit my friends at TNJ after work.
The game starts in 8 hours Hotty Toddy

Day 29 Wear A Leather Strap This is a nail biter. But some of you disappoint! Seriously you have but one watch on a leather strap? I guess I have been fortunate enough that some 80% of my purchases were without a bracelet/band/strap. Okay nearly ½ came with old man stretch bands OMSB. Find a bracelet that looks good with end-links for most Seiko’s is a big challenge. Find OEM is even more daunting…Also many of the lug dimensions are an even mm more like 18.6mm 17.2mm or whatever. Now I don’t mind a bit of end gap just like I don’t mind a bit if thigh gap (I promise photos are “g” rated). I have bought numerous leather or natural straps for quit a few of my Seiko’s. Todays has been my “to work” watch that I picked-up on eBay a couple weeks bac, with an OMSB. Not sure if we’d call the color cognac or on to burgundy? Slightly embossed with matching stitching. I think it wears well with the 7009-8219 I wore this to a Dr. Apt. Yesterday and saw it in the bright light. Couldn’t get over how scratched the crystal is. Under overhead lights it looks pretty great…going to give it a bit of a polish see if I can improve it… Enjoy the weekend fellows, gals, they, their, them, it’s (cd_gods fault)

I've tried but just can't cope with leather or fabric straps. Maybe I'm weird but they feel(atleast in my imagination) nasty after a day or two of wearing. I just imagine how the sweat and nastiest wrist cheese from vintage bracelets is being embedded in the leather and fabric fibers 🫣 Rubber and steel are soo easy to clean and dry while taking a shower. Obsessive about that but still haven't bothered adjusting to the correct date😅

This must be the most “leather” I have on a strap - both thick and long: This is a special edition Spitfire from 2012. It is a big and heavy watch, over 15mm thick and 53mm or so lug to lug. 43mm case. Its a fly back chronograph, with a few features I really love. First the chronograph hours and minutes are displayed on a single dial at 12-o’clock: Second, there are only two sub-dials, arranged like a Portugueser at 6 and 12 o’clock. Third, the dial. The tobacco brown is stunning in person and really works on this style watch in my opinion. Also, as this is a St. Antoine d’Exupery foundation watch - it use a special font for the arabic numerals, which I prefer over the standard IWC font. Each numeral is its own metal piece filled with lume and fitted to the dial. Finally, unlike many IWCs of this time, here we have an in-house movement, not a rebranded ETA. This is my favorite IWC as of today - and the only one I have put my own money behind (so far). There may be a Big Pilot 43 in my future… but no plans yet. EDIT: Dial close-up: And here is where I was earlier this morning:
