Brilliant @cd_god that's perfect!!! I don't have any pets to blame but my Daughter might steal my markers. Actually what is going to happen is I'm going to steal her markers, so she'll just be recovering her stolen property. Hopefully I don't end up on the North Side thread for it!

I am so amazed by our Grand Mufti . Nothing gets by him. Or is only socially permissible to say "Nothing gets by them" nowadays? Josh I'll save my 'how we beat the random color marker hand mark security safeguard to sneak into game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals' story for another day. Thank you cd_god for running this.

Only 11 days til the contest starts.
In the years past you needed every point plus all 3 bonus points just to get in a 3 way or 5 way tie for first place.
Ask your questions now or forever hold your peace.

Another question - Does the watch in play actually have to be functional? My oldest watch (not a contest theme, but might be a tie-breaker) only runs for a few minutes at a time. I'm not going to get to servicing it before the contest ends. I could say nothing as all of our submission are a photo of a stopped moment in time anyway, but I wanted clarification just becuase I'm wanting to be sure I make my points with integrity.

The watch has to run.
Just hold the broken watch in your hand and wear your second oldest watch.
One of the rules was if the background is out of focus take 2 pictures from the same angle.
So you can take an encompass all picture and then a better close up of the watch / watches in question.

I think I may have made the challenges a little too hard (or at least expensive)
I went to the grocery store to buy some popcorn seeds cuz I ain't paying $20 for a jumbo tub of popcorn and they want $7 for a small jar of Orville Redenbacher unpopped popcorn seeds.
I don't even have a popcorn popper to use them in after the contest.
I thought I could just walk into the grocery store or Walmart or Target and get a fancy twisty straw.
Turns out those went out of fashion in the 90's or something and no one carries them anymore.
You can get 4 stainless steel straws to sniff coke (do people still do that ) for $4 with a cleaning brush or fancy bio degradable paper straws but no twisty straws unless you want to buy 6 of them for $10 on Amazon

#srsly
What qualifies as "old" in terms of stamps for 5.E.V.?
EDIT: also, I think you might have 3CIII flipped around, shouldn't C be the bar/brewery (place) and III be the alcohol container (thing)?

I noticed that and maybe another one while perusing them yesterday.
I guess an old stamp would be one you lick (vs. current self adhesive) and one with a denominational value on it (vs. a forever stamp)

I think I may have made the challenges a little too hard (or at least expensive) I would say if anything the challenge sequences may not be quite hard enough considering there are 15 to pick from. It's a fine balance between having people not even try versus having to break a six-way tie of the 12 people who are going to play for keeps. I think you've done a pretty darn good job @cd_god and the fact it's a bit tough on you as well speaks to that.
The biggest issue I have with most of the challenges is to find the time to do them. My game plan is trying to fit the most time consuming challenges in on the weekends so I'm not trying to work something out before/after my 10~12 hour work days during the week. It's going to be fun, and I'm not going to take it too seriously but I am going to do what I can within my limits to win!
I will admit to buying one watch for the contest, but at $81 delivered and being of a type not yet in my collection (and on my list of watches to explore) I don't feel too bad about it. It was broken and I did have to put a few late nights in to get it ready for the challenge. All part of the fun I say!
I'm really looking forward to the contest and seeing how everyone contributes to the WRUW thread is going to be a hoot.
Thanks again for your efforts @cd_god, I know this wouldn't be happening without you!

Yes - thanks cd_god for making this happen... but I think inboost is nuts - there is no way this is too easy! I am pretty there are less than 10 that I can actually pull off completely, all things considered - but I guess that's why they call it a challenge!

Just to be sure - did I read somewhere that we can use a watch without a date - and without a newspaper to prove the date - because we have all bought a marker set (including orange!) and will draw on our hand instead?

No date required.
The only newspaper required is "XV: A Community newspaper from the same city (or state ONLY if you take a picture in front of the state line sign)"
That one might be a little harder to find than I had planned as well
And you can draw all over your body if you want.
Its freak month so anything flies
I walked every aisle of Walmart yesterday where thy had 6 different types of normal straw and the stainless steel coke straws and every aisle of the local "Kroger" tonight and they had 10 different normal straws.
If I had a gubment tracking device I could have started a straw blog.
Anywho I threw it out to my local watchmaster who came back right away 10 years ago where he saw Golden Champale for sale to see if he saw anywhere that had any and found an on the downlow Northside spot that should have them for me to stop at on the way home from work tomorrow.
He also denied knowing where to buy or even having any knowledge of any product known as "Golden Champale" so I had to Stan Lee his ass and find the 11 year old email.
He must be spending too much time fixing for and selling fancy watches to lawyers and corporate raiders.
