Hey!
I’m a longtime Seiko internet sleuth, so I figured now is as good a time as any to join a forum I’ve often perused.
I am D. I run a small town watch store in Texas. I quit my day job a couple years ago to pursue my passion for vintage watches, specifically Seikos and other Japanese oddities. I’ve been collecting, tinkering with, trading, and talking watches for the better part of the last decade, but my love for Seiko specifically goes back much further.
Some of my early memories as a kid were of accompanying my parents on their annual trip to the Seiko outlet to pick out their new watch for the year. They always were pretty conservative in their tastes, but as a young child, I was given time to browse the animated wall clocks and dive computers that lined the walls and shelves. These experiences actually gave me a grailwatch that I chased for years when I got into the hobby during my University years: the SBBK001 Scubamaster.
I have a modest collection of seikos that I find personally interesting, from presage automatics to dive computers to “DJ watches” to early quartz pieces.
I hope to learn from other people who share this wonderful hobby with me.
