I am the daughter of a lurker, JP. He built quite the collection over 30 years. Some amazing pieces, some classic pieces, some modded pieces and a huge gap for me to fill in terms of information.
I am diving in and learning as much as I can. I am still at the information gathering stage, but I have found few Gems that I am happy to own.
My favorite so far is my
Seiko C"hronograph" Japanese Olympic watch. It needs service, and the C on Chronograph has faded... But it's really a very cool watch. I love the monopusher design. that is one watch I want to fix up.
I'm happy to "meet" all of you.

Welcome! You've found another great corner of the internet here. Photos are a little harder to share on this forum - the easiest I have found is to setup an imgur.com account, paste your images there, then copy/paste the BB Code from that site into your posts here.

Yes, that is what I am seeing. Far cheaper for the host. I will eventually do that. Thank you for the welcome!

I live in San Diego, Cam. It's been fun getting to know all the different folks on the various forums. My dad did most of his watch hunting in Vancouver Canada, and some down here in San Diego. He went to Hong Kong once and picked up a few watches. I think we might have connected elsewhere, if my spidey sense is accurate.

My brother connected me with someone in Hawaii who was interested in watches. I don't think you are the same person, however, you do share a name.

Great to have you here DaughterSeiko, we might be spread out across the globe but we're a close group in spirit. I've got a very similar Seiko 5717-8990 mono-pusher myself just recently (no torch, but same model) and with the sleuthing help of saldog I've got a proper bracelet inching it's way over the ocean to me.
Once you've got the hang of putting up a picture join in our daily WRUW posts so we can enjoy some of your collection with you!

Welcome to WristSushi ! We are a smaller band of WIS's than - ahem "other" web sites - but we are the best!
Your Dad had a great collection I've been reading over on 'another' website about your inherited peices. Please stick around not just this great community but also to come to admire the engineering and design elements of each of these amazing vintage Seiko timepieces.

I rebuilt this 5717 single button chrono entirely from NOS parts - dial, hands, button, crown, bezel and crystal. Took me several years to amass the parts for the build.
I sold it for a small fortune so in that sense I do not regret it but I sure do miss it on some occasions:

Was the Hawaiian Louis? He's been a little quiet lately, but Louis is a passionate and well known Seiko collector.

OMG. THAT'S STUNNING!!!! I really really really want mine looking similar to that when I am done. The "C" has faded away on mine, but it makes me love it more. I am looking forward to having such a beauty someday!

Here is mine. The inner bezel is loose. It ran when I first picked it up and played with it, and the mono-pusher worked great. I don’t want to touch it until I can fix it properly. But I adore it. It is by far my favorite watch.

So amazing! I got the Tapatalk app and I donated a little bit. As a newbie, it's a gesture to say I do want to belong. A lot of the watches are too big for me, so I am wearing very few, but each day I am studying and learning more about one or two of them. And also trying to keep a normal life going! Hard when this is much more fun! Thank you for the invite for WRUW. I will participate! Hugs!

That's a wonderful watch DaughterSeiko, it has a lot of c_haracter I'm a big fan of watches with stories to tell (so much of the time unspoken). I've not serviced m7 5717 yet so I can't speak to the level of difficulty - but I'd say it's not a 'first try' kind of watch if you're so inclined. Perhaps some practice on those 6139 parts donor watches you showed would be a good way to get your watch repair 'chops' before you dig into this one. My very first watch repair job was a 6139 and it was quite a big cliff to dive off of. If you have any interest at all trying to service a watch yourself I would suggest picking something out of your collection that has no day or date or other complication. Easyiest would be something you have to wind by hand and only shows the time. Even better is a watch that you have less connection to or money invested in. Then the stress of the inevitable 'oops' isn't so bad. The good news is that everyone here paying half a bit of attention will chime in and help with questions that arise no matter how basic you may feel them to be. We're here for you!

Oh I think I will leave this one to the professionals! But I will definitely find some cheap easy watches to play with. I don’t think any in my collection qualify. I might keep one of my 6139 movements to play with, one is still running. The advantage of having one to play with is, I don’t have that much sunken costs into this adventure yet. I am going to get this watch restored once I have sold off a lot of watches as a motivation and reward.
