This part can be found in 6105/6106/6119 movements and probably others. It's the all metal type. The end of the spring abuts the finger on its inner face. The end appears to be cut with side cutters and left straight leaving a burr which can cause date setting issues. It does not act smoothly with the inside of the finger. To cure this issue, using 2 pairs of tweezers, put a small inward bend on the spring which then abuts the spring on a smooth outside surface. I recently had two movements, 6105 & 6119, with this part and both had date change issue due to this.

Awesome tip thank you.
I just got a 6106 that has the same issue when oooking through the dial window. I won't be having it apart anytime soon but when I do I will check for this issue. I was assuming the wheel was in need of re-staking / replacement.

Super idea Fergus! Can you expand on the symptoms that pointed you here? Was it that the date wheel didn't tick over right in the 'window' through the dial, or was this jamming / stopping the hour wheel and stalling the movement?

The date dial on my 6105 was not completely ticking over. It would travel half way between dates then drop back. On strip down I found the finger not out to full position thus reducing the rotational travel of the date dial. So I sorted that one yesterday then today while working a 6119 fitted with the same style wheel it might have experienced the same issue so the pic above is from it. The 6119 I have been working may have a story. During my apprenticeship we had a works watch department in which was a guy called John Moore. John left to join Seiko UK in Guildford eventually leaving there to service watches from his home. This 6119 has 3 tinkers signatures all Moore. I wonder 7 o'clock position

Great, thanks for the additional details! Now how will I ever remember this when I need it most?
