Just had an email from TOF advising that as from September 21st the forum will no longer be available via Tapatalk - “Last month, Tapatalk notified us that they are changing ownership. After reviewing their service, other forums’ experiences, and member feedback, we have decided to wind down Tapatalk’s access to The Watch Site on Sep 21, 2023. This means that The Watch Site will no longer be available on Tapatalk after that date.” Groundhog66 - any similar plans to ditch Tapatalk? |

I use the Chrome app on my phone for both forums, but cannot easily put images up on the phone without Tapatalk.... at least here. I don't think ever tried that on TOF.

Unfortunately we're going to have to get used it it - all of the forums owned by vertical scope are leaving Tapatalk (inc watchuseek and a few non-watch forums I have accounts at).

This will be a major inconvenience as I access all forums through Tapatalk.
If I can't access everything from the same place, it could lead to not posting at all going forward.

Heck I don't even know what tapatalk is? I guess I'm one of the last guys that use my phone, more or less as a phone? Heck if I could get a Nokia candy bar again, I'd be all over it...well except for gps and the traffic app I really like those...

I don't use Tapatalk either - too many security implications for my comfort level.

I'm daring myself to go for one of these as I'm with small about phones. Well sorta.... I take pictures a lot with my phone and use an FTP app to move them to my domain and then post links here. Total PITA but I have 100% control of it all without any ads or spyware. |

Idea was that they'd be for folks who wanted to take a "digital detox" from regular smartphones because they didn't have enough self-control to quit looking at their phones every five seconds. Usually would be used for weekends and after work and such. Anyway, a decent device for just having a simple phone to make calls and SMS. But my take is that most folks who get them probably use them for a very short time before shoving them in a drawer. There's a reason everyone (excepting a certain well-known member of this board) switched to smartphones years ago. |

One option is to root your device and use F-droid for apps.
I use both smartphone and stupid phone. I just need to buy a new stupid phone as my son dipped it first in water and then in milk. It gave up couple of weeks ago. It worked for 5 years and I bought it used.
I have another, but the speaker sucks.

I wonder what happens to photos that have been uploaded/hosted by Tapatalk when sites drop the Tapatalk plug ins? Is this going to be the photobucket debacle all over again?

I can only assume this decision would be made by those running the show @ Proboards, not sure we can make this change at the forum level. That said, I think VerticalScope is looking for more control. |

Please don't ditch Tapatalk, Groundhog66. The lack of Tapatalk on SCWF has killed off my desire to visit there as VerticalScope's Fora app is rubbish. |

I also only use Tapatalk for all the forums I use. The photo hosting is great as it removes the photobucket/other hosting issues.
It's a pain as since SCWF disappeared I haven't posted there.

The integrated photo hosting is main reason I use Tapatalk as well. I'm not going to take the time to upload a photo to another hosting website and then embed it in my post on the forum. |
