A new wave of Seiko AM kits have hit the market. Previously unknown of on these shores.

These models with AM parts have been around for quite awhile. Surprised that someone flat out declares the AM parts before selling. At least that's better than trying to fool people. Funny thing is how prices are mostly pretty high even for this stuff.

Wow thanks for sharing that appumaster ! Seems a lot of fake dials and such are new and getting better by the day. There are really bad faked 6309 divers on ebay that are purported to be restored but just piles of horse dung that use these old vintage movements. I feel bad for the buyers.

Does the dial actually use a Seiko logo or are these homages under a different brand name? Just curious.

If this is all from factories in GuangDong and ShenZhen as most of the counterfeit goods coming across the pond are, then the short version is it's because China has a bigger stick than Japan and generally couldn't care less unless they're paid to care.
mnem As the size of a thermobaric reaction increases, the number of social situations it cannot resolve approaches zero.

Yuck....
I suspect expert validation of vintage Seikos is going to become a thing, like it is for Rolex, Omega and other brands that are thoroughly "faked".

Not including the atrocious eBay watch authentication program (joke that it is) I could find myself very interested in providing this service. WIS's with an accumulated ken and keen eye, to be intermediaries in a sale, restricted to what we know. Anyone here want to go into a side business with me ??

This is what a completely aftermarket 6119-7173 looks like. The only vintage parts in this watch are the movement and the caseback. It looks frighteningly good. Currently on Ebay with full disclosure by the seller...commendable, anyway.

And for what it's worth, I find it way better than the SRPK checker flag reissue 🤷♂️ in that divers case.

Was it offered as AM?

While a complete assembled piece is offered for close to $200 (with a usually shitty movement). The new kit sans the movement is less than $100/pc for a 10 pc MOQ. I just picked 1 kit and popped in my own movement.
