leffemonster - yes that's the stuff I've got hanging off my nose at the moment. I nearly took a tumble more than once that first afternoon. Stairs were taken very cautiously! You're absolutely right in that depth perception and I'll also add peripheral vision suffers mightily.
twhp101 - The Universal Genevé Unisonic line are what I believe to be licensed Bulova 218 dual fork movements (UG number 52). It was love at first sight when I saw the 'Sub' model.

There are a few color ways with these:
Dials - Black (common) / Brown / Blue (rare)
Bezel - Blue / Black / Maroon / white
Most often it's like mine black/black and then it's the brown/maroon.
To get to the crystal and to clean under the bezel a 35mm 14 sided wrench is used. I looked and looked but couldn't find one. So I laser cut one and managed to open mine. I've not lifted the crystal yet as I believe the chapter 'ring' is actually painted on to something as I have seen these degraded on fully assembled watches. I'm scared to lift the crystal in fear of damaging mine.
Interestingly the diver's bezel ratchet system on this watch is teeth on top surface of the bezel that mesh with teeth under the bezel castle nut. A wave-washer spring lifts the bezel up into mesh with those teeth.

Whoa that is an amazing dial russtmurray ! Congrats on that!
- I got my first pair of progressive lens glasses Friday night. Until now I've only donned readers once and awhile. I'm struggling mightily with them despite wearing them religiously since acquiring them.
- To try and make myself feel better, I picked out a fine detail watch as I know they are helping me with that. My Seiko 7T92-0CF0 Flight-master with it's slide rule bezel was the one to try them with. Only I come to find it's battery is dead. I know a guy who can help with that and it's sorted.
- Yesterday my Wife called to tell me our garage smelled like a fuel spill and that it was permeating into the house
- On my way home later that evening she called to tell me our power had just gone out. Estimated repair was +20hrs due to fallen trees. The evening was lost to setting up the generator and preparing for a long night on less power that we need to stay warm.
- This morning at work prior to start I decided to look for the fuel leak. I found it when I touched a rubber line coming from the fuel filter. It instantly rained down gasoline all down my arm until my sub tank had emptied (~0.75 gal / 2.8L)
At least we got power back late last night!
Thanks big guy. It's definitely a fun watch! Sounds like you're having an interesting 24hrs

Ouch inboost , that sounds like a tough evening. I wasn't sure you were getting as much weather out west, as most of the storm lines I was seeing locally were from SSW, but I guess the storm front was pretty wide, huh?
Wearing a little bit of gold this morning while in the office, before doing some yard work cleanup in the afternoon.
Thanks Victor. The model is referred to as the Siege from a microbrand known as Signum. It's a sister company to another microbrand called Straton that has been around since 2015. The dial is real turquoise and the movement is a Miyota 9015.

inboost ...Simon I have just bought my 4th pair or progressives. Pair 1. Faulty from the get go. Glass grinding was poor. Pair 2. After a year of continuous use (office computing) I eventually got aquainted with them and found them very good. Pair 2. Dropped from a great height while trimming my wife's bush...a Bay Tree. Pair 3. Pair 2 replaced under house insurance but using Pair 1/2 frames. Pair 3. While awaking from an agitated sleep (dreamt I had bought a Rolex) I rolled over them and they broke. 3 year gap while I used a 1990 pair of safety magnifiers and a pair of 1.25 ready readers. Pair 4. Obtained just before Xmas and they are feeling good. Only 3 more instalments to go and they will be mine Hi Fergus , 1 year to get acquainted ? You should change opticians. When I had my first pair of progressive glasses made, I had a hard time , my optician told me: "it's not up to you to adapt, it's just that the geometry of the lenses isn't right". He measured everything again, ordered new glasses, better but not perfect... After the 3rd try he told me : "your eyes aren't moving and converging in real life like when you put them on my measuring tool, let's do it old school... He took a mirror, made me look on a point from near, from far, draw directly on the glasse and got different results than with his modern computerized tool. The 4th glasses were near perfect... He said "Near isn't perfect..." He called the manufacturer, asked some fine tuning to the geometry for the next pair... It was perfect, but he noticed a quality issue on the coating if I remember, and asked for a 6th one. inboost , I think your optician is more a glasses seller than an optician

TinkeringFR that's a great tale and is encouraging up to the point that I'll have to buy a ticket to France and beg a place on your couch for accommodations to get a pair for myself. I have felt from the very start that the optician (in-house at the clinic where I was tested) is more interested in selling than fitting. Glad to hear someone is happy with their glasses!

I'm a bit busy the last few days. Some health issues I have to care about, and helping my son with his new toys, he asked me an airbrush for his farming diorama, we are learning together But I still find some time for my watch hobby. My dealer showed me some new items I could not resist, i'll show them in the next days if I find some time. This morning I found that spending a week with the yellowfin tuna was enough, took my SKX007J, but the time setting was a bit hard. The crown gasket was a bit sticky in the tube (I already noticed it some weeks ago). So I had to wait until this afternoon to take care about this gasket and replace it with one of the new ones I found at saikyu.com Well, problem solved...

It took him 2 months from the first pair to the final one, so you'll have to be patient... (the two following times, he only needed to do one or to tries)

inboost blimey that's a complicated construction! I can see why you've held off from opening it, I would also be afraid of damaging the chapter ring. As you mentioned above, adding more to the family is always a good thing! I keep mine in a wooden display cabinet that the hum reverberates through and half a dozen humming away sounds pretty cool
