Well that's something. Does the shell have a split or is it a seamless tube? I'd love to know how they made it, as it looks like it was perhaps a continuous roller that has stamped the text on it (one can see how the text ends halfway and continues with the same dot pattern), meaning either they had the tube firmly supported from the inside during the stamping or then they stamped a sheet of metal which they then rolled into a tube, otherwise I can see the springbar being squeezed and ruined. No wonder they don't do it anymore . From production point of view, that is bonkers!

Good find. Always something new to learn about.
I would think it was stamped while the end of the stock tube was on a mandrel, just prior to cutting. The top of the letters are less imprinted to my eyes.

Wow that is very cool dapellegrini! What vintage watch is that? I wold assume if we went looking for other high-line watches in those years we might see more of it?
Looks like it's rolled into the tube while it is still some length far exceeding the need of the spring bar. I would guess an arbor is fed through the hollow tube while roll-marking.

This is just one I stumbled on while browsing Buyee... I have the link, but it's an active bid thing, so can't share it... I think I can share the buyee auction number maybe? d1121201134 This isn't a watch I have won or own, though if it was a lot cheaper I'd be tempted....
