Rescue complete! This 'Dead Stock' Citizen 4-060113SMK is an untouched pristine example of what I think is a mid 1980s budget level LCD watch. There is no serial number anywhere to be found but it's based on the 9121A module which hales from 1978. In setting the calendar the year setting spans 1970 to 2009, so with a 20 year predicted maximum life that makes this a 1989 model perhaps?
It has the bracelet tag and protective case-back sticker still in place and not a hair of a scratch anywhere. Why budget? Well it's got one button with one job: a light. It shows only the time and day of the month akin to an analog quartz watch. It can actually host a different LCD with days of the week shown vertically where the "CRYSTRON LC" is shown (and it worked on the subbed in panel) and in fact one must 'skip' this setting when programming the time and date.
The LCD was fried when I got it, and I'd say it was the victim of a battery containment failure that the out-gassing somehow attacked the LCD. It turned dark and was completely unresponsive. After some swapping with spares and some testing I found the module alive and kicking but the LCD unresponsive. A second similar LCD swapped in showed some segments (see in yesterday's WRUW) but not a total display. Oddly in time-setting mode more of it came to life than when left running. A new, still sealed LCD panel spare was located in Italy and imported at a reasonable cost. It arrived Friday night and was absolutely lovely except it has a pronounced Newton Ring: " Newton's Rings are a common phenomenon in LCD screens, which appear as splashy-looking rainbow-like rings on the screen when it’s pressed firmly or when the screen is viewed at a tilted angle. The root cause is a micron-sized gap between two glossy surfaces (plastic film and the glass). A slight variation in the thickness of the gap (caused by oil or air bubbles) will cause the backward reflected light to interfere with the forward directed light, thus producing the rainbow-like rings." I suppose I should have triedd pressing on it but as fragile as these are I opted not to. More often than not when I press about on LCd panels to try and chase away crystalized fluid sport the rings appear, so I am worried I would just make it worse. After some tune-up I was able to get it to a very stable room temperature of nearly perfect no-gain operation:
Overall I'm super happy with it and it's perfect finishes and deep blue dial which appears black in these photos.

inboost, most likely 70s Citizen, as I think they dropped the "Crystron LC" in 1980 (their first from the 1979 ana-digi had it, but next gen from 1980 didn't have it anymore). Quite common to have calendar go backwards from the date of manufacture with these. Very nice model! Also the case is more 70s than 80s and shares design for example with the Crystron Solar 8629

Just finished with this. Calendar didn't work, dial feet was broken and it's missing a bezel click ring. Calendar wheel was mangled which I replaced, I used a dab of contact adhesive for the dial as it's elastic and easy to remove (dial pad would have been best, but adhesive worked nicely aswel!). Now I need to order the click spring. Full service will happen sometime in the future, as I have very limited time at the current situation. Not entirely happy with the second hand alignment, but it will have to do for now.

Reckon I'm a little slow on the uptake here Dave, but where did you get that snow? Guess it's not all that unusual but just curious.
