I ran across (and picked up for cheap) this Seiko Quartz pouch. There was not information about it other than that the outer box was missing and that this was a pouch for a Seiko quartz watch. It comes with a couple of cardboard inserts that appear to be meant to hold the watch so it doesn't bounce around inside the pouch.
Has anyone seen this kind of pouch for Seiko watches before? Is there a specific model or group of models (i.e. King Quartz, Dolce, etc.) that it would be associated with? Any idea of the exact era (70s, 80s, 90s)?
I was going to post this in dapellegrini's box thread but didn't want to step on his conversations there.

No idea, but welcome on the box thread too... unless it is a glasses case?

Having just come from the optometrist I think I'd prefer a set of quartz glasses to these infernal things hanging off my face right now.

That's exactly what they look like, right? But while I'd bet Seiko has a biz making glasses, I don't think they make quartz glasses. Although, if nothing else, my spare sunglasses might end up residing in there, if I can't figure out the watch that the pouch is for.

www.seikovision.com/how-will-i-look/keep-ahead/EDIT: I was thinking more like "swag" from a tradeshow, like branded water bottles and pens... Curious with that cardboard in there, if there are cut outs in it, perhaps it's a watch "coffin", but could just be to keep the pouch from bending when new

....and there are no USA distributors of this product. If I want Seiko glasses I have to go to another country.

Great minds, dapellegrini ! I was just looking through the Seiko boxes on offer and ran across a Prospex bag, and recalled all the Grand Seiko swag one can get like pens and golf balls and such when you buy a GS.
I also ran across a couple of other pouches with slightly different style and with the old quartz logo on them. While one seller referred to the pouch as being for a watch, the other seller explicitly labeled it as a glasses case, but added that it could be used for a watch if you wanted.
It also reminds me of the more general Japanese shopping experience where you buy something at a shop and they toss in something else, like a little hand towel or other cheap item. It just makes the shopping experience a little more fun and special. (the other thing they do sometimes is wrap up your purchase, like gift wrapping, before they bag it for you. Again, your inexpensive purchase like a book or a pair of socks or even some snacks becomes this special purchase).
So now my working supposition is that the pouch is a gimme type swag that a buyer would get when they bought a Seiko Quartz watch, back when Quartz watches were expensive and top of the line for Seiko.
inboost - if you end up getting some Seiko glasses, be sure to ask for your quartz case!

I'd be willing to bet this is indeed an eyeglasses case. It looks like something that would have been handed out at a trade show or something back in the late 1970s.
