What a thrill to come home and find an unexpected gift in one's letterbox. Double down on that its from a good friend and is a watch difficult to find. Let's not forget it is also one that was dearly lusted for after seeing it on his wrist!
Behold the Citizen Electronic GX Cosmotron of November 1975 This watch hails from the venerable Cosmotron line which was predominately a top tier electronic balance based time piece. I believe not long after the production of this line we got the HiSonic line of tuning fork watches. Interestingly this is a Citizen licensed Bulova Accutron 219 based single coil tuning fork movement in the Cosmotron family. A bit of a head scratcher for sure! If you see a Cosmotron you may find either type of movement inside, either way they are both remarkable in their departure from mechanical movements on the way to the Quartz revolution.
Check out the index wheel action zipping along. Simply amazing that this was first made in the late 1960s! You will not find a smoother sweep hand action that what these deliver
Yep, looks like we have some cleaning to do, and even though there is some runout in the wheel it still seems to be happy to run along and keep good time. One of these days I need to get my nerve up to service one of these movements and build some confidence that I won't mangle those little index jewels on their whiskers.

I was intending to wear my Crystron "Piano Black" today, but when I opened the drawer the resonance from this one humming along was so loud that I realized I had no choice but to wear it.
These tuning fork watches have incredibly smooth sweep hands; no tick tick tick, just a true sweep. The movements in the f300 are based on the same ESA movements designed by Max Hetzel, who also designed the Acutron 214. The humming is loud enough that they're impossible to wear while you sleep, at least if you sleep on your side and stick your arm under the pillow.

Now there are plenty of jokes running around in my head, but which decency forbids me from saying here...

Yesterday's SKX013 has left home for a new life with another adoptive family. I like to sell my toys to people who will give them as much love as I did. One of my SKX009Js was on my desk, it's been a while since it has been cuddled, it was out for a photo for a friend so it will get some wrist time.

This strap is a nice match for this turtle. I took the bracelet from my SRPF13 and put it on my manta ray turtle. I think I'll put one of my remaining DAL1BPs on this naked turtle waiting now for months to get it's bracelet back.

For a change of pace. Been a few weeks for the 6105 homages...I like these far more than I thought. While the SRP777 is great watch and super similar design, this is, imo, better by a narrow margin

I love my chunky Grand Seiko SBGR311, 42mm diameter, 13 mm thick, limited edition— Calibre S 20th Anniversary since 1998 Limited Edition. “The forging of iron and steel in Shizukuishi is said to have origins that go back a thousand years and more. The color of the dial on this timepiece evokes the firing of the forge and expresses the scorching heat of molten iron. Three tiny symbols, the G and the S of Grand Seiko and the S of Daini Seikosha (now Seiko Instruments).

If you can't handle the hum don't get a modern Timex.
The TICK is even worse.
Or maybe it is fate / destiny calling me to off the grid.
I used to know the difference between the 2 but at the time it was irrelevant and I forgot it.
I still remember 3 of the 4 rules of retail I invented back in the day,
The 4th one rarely appeared during an interaction and next time it does I am going to write it down so I don't forget it again.
