After a conversation yesterday with Spencer, I began to think about the under appreciated quartz model the 4004. The styles were cool. The movements are tough as nails and the watches are readily available at decent prices. Lets see some of your models or hear your thoughts about this great under appreciated gem.

I forgot I had this one too. Not the 4004, but the 3003. 7dfe79adc2f0

The movements are so burly and over-built. I wish they'd used these movements in something other than chunky 70s dress watches. Imagine a one-piece diver case with screw-down crystal and one of these movements inside.

My OG triple OG "Buy a house get a free watch" house warming gift from Noah Riley. If you have been around the block enough times your already know the history. My pinstripe dial 4004 is one of my favorties but back in teh old days I decided I could swap the crystal out myself only to fidn out years later about why my 7546 Railroad Approved was a goner only needing a crystal because of the case bezel crystal gasket design. I guess that is why it took so many beating and subsequent gouges in the chapter ring / case to pound it our from the inside.

Here are a couple more of mine. The one on the right is NOS, the one on the left well-used and a non-runner. The dead one came with it's original instruction/warranty book, which is what the pair is sitting on in the pic.

I think I will dig mine out and putter around with it to see if I can get it running. Being a 70s quartz that I bought years ago, I really didn't try much to get it running, IIRC. It may fire up with the same voodoo I used on my last 0903.
But if I can't get it going, I may take you up on this. Thanks, Spencer!

Well I dug mine out last week not running. New battery Nada! Off to Seiko, the fella went white I am sure it was like the one he grandad had... Err no too "corroded." Cobblers! Took it to my local mate who opened it and remarked how good its was inside.... Cleaned the power bits new battery and running sweet as a nut. Second hand is ticking not dead on the marks but hey ho if it keeps good time. ? Now for a new crystal and a case refurb. Anyone got a spare original bracelet? Might look at collecting and refurbing these classics!

I have tried to get him to trade it many times but he has stood firm with NO. He did gift me this one as a house warming gift when he and his wife came over for demo day. I think I have my white pinstripe dial 4004 somewhere and my fade to grey.
