This time of year here the only "diving" I do is into bed at night....to get under the covers so I can get warm.

I take mines diving with me... That's an excellent photo. How do you keep from being bitten? Don't they have a beak? Myles

Here we just let them sit on our hands, and don't make sudden moves of shaking then they will not bite you. These guys will take a chunk out off you hand if they want to. ( Parrot Beaks are deadly. ) Octopus , here we call he ..... " TAKO ". ( Japanese given name.) We catch them and dry them and preservative added to them so it gives a better taste. If you want to shred them after drying and package them we do this for that. We use old .... ( Clothes Dryer ), without the heat and tumble them in it and add.... " Rock Salt " and tumble them till they become tender and soft. The you can shred them up and use for cooking if you want too. We also marinate them and served raw and are quite tasty. They make good appetizers when people are parting and drinking their brew's. Here they grow very big and love deep water. They also make great fishing bait for catching other types of game fish like these. This what we use octopus for and what we do here when diving. Top Notch bait for catching this. Also we dive for this too. Average weight is ....10 lbs. to 130 lbs. and bigger.

Thanks for the replies all!
And yes, they have a beak but "knock on wood" I haven't gotten bit yet....whew. I am getting nervous that one day I will get bit. It is almost like a parrot beak and it could take a chunk outta you if it did. I have had a few friends that got "pinched" and it bled. But mostly they are safe once they are "scared" I assume.
I usually beer boil, slice, and serve with a miso sauce. Old school japanese style.
Again, I love to see cooking, shooting, diving, shoveling and so forth with your seikos! WIN!

I use my 6139 to time my race car laps. I've had very little success with it, because
A - the gloves are too fat
B - the straight is too long and fast for me to casually reach over and check my time
C - I almost always forget.
But i tell people I do it anyway because it makes me more Steve McQueen like, and everyone likes Steve.
As a guess, I am assuming chronos were used by the team rather than the driver. Man I wish I was around back then.
