So, here are some stupid thoughts and questions which I hope the good people of WS don't laugh at too loudly:
1) now that I'm basking in the glow of buying a watch which I know will be straight, true, exciting and just what I wanted, how to fill my time until it arrives? (I'm awaiting a Please don't say "look for the next one".
2) what will be the next Seiko "first" which will catch the imagination of the great unwashed (such as me)?
3) which other great watch makers are as under valued and therefore present an interesting delve into their icons? (A good friend recently told me that my new found interest in watches was rather similar to our mutual interest in exotic women about 10 years ago; needs detailed research and thorough analysis but is ultimately driven by strange urges and always more expensive than anticipated).
4) original cool steel bracelets vs cool looking leather? What the heck is going on in my head?
Sorry......just rambling.......

Oops, hit the button before finishing. Let's try that again.

Get the tracking number from the seller and sit at your PC (or at least check it several times daily) watching the progress and anticipating how much fun it will be to open it!

In short - the answers to all your questions... 1. Watch the tracking update regularly and enjoy the perilous route through various post office sorting centres with increasing anticipation... or... Just hunt for the next one! 2. The next Seiko 'big thing'... Go early Quartz before everyone else catches on! 3. Other lesser knows... Go Swiss 70's chrono's - plenty of tiny manufacturers that no-one has heard of... Many just as good as the Heuers etc but much better value! Similar story with lesser known vintage divers too. 4. Bracelets vs Leather - always go original steel if you can - if not, make do with a leather strap and help kill time awaiting the arrival of No.1 by hunting for period Seiko buckles! 5. What is going on in your head? Don't worry, it is all perfectly normal!

You guys are great! I had some rambling thoughts the other night when I got awaked by phone call at 2 am. I actually got my Ipad and got on WS! That got me to question myself and why I am I here...so here it goes...more ramblings
1. First the watch was developed but it really wasn't until mass production and interchangeable parts came along that made them reasonable for the average guy. I believe you could say Bulova was a pioneer here.
2. Two world wars demonstrated need for timed maneuvers, and with mass production with some mil specs made watches better but also placed watches on millions of males. They got used to them, and having ( or supposed to ) to turn them in would have created the market.
3. Seiko develops quartz watches making quality, accurate and less expensive time pieces, even more available. Ironically, as I was replacing the original capacitors in a couple of kinetics I found this reminded of mechanical watches. I believe despite the fact that quartz dealt mechanical a severe blow in the market ( 1969 and following ? ) that quartz also led to a resurgence of interest in mechanicals, which is how I got involved with this forum.
4. Internet makes it easier to learn, expands purchasing area, enables new friendships on common interest, and allows create conversations like this on great forums like this! That's why I'm here!
I am glad I got this off my chest!

I agree and yours is a nice custom. I'll post pics of mine another day. I like Richard Beard's Toshi straps for them. Thanks for sharing.
