Hi Fella's,
After browsing the dedicated 'pogue' thread and reading many other posts on the 6139, all I can think about is this awesome watch, and the urge to get one has become overwhelming.
But despite some intensive searching, I have not been able to locate a single one where i live in South Africa (for sale or at all), which is not too surprising.
So I am coming to you for help. I am looking for an honest, wearable yellow or blue dial model which need not be mint or perfect, nor even completely original. Just a good example at a fair price. I have seen a few fantastic ones for sale on here on Wrist Sushi, mostly through Tony (Cockroach), and also quite a few on Chono24, mostly through a seller in Texas, USA. Unfortunately, with the poor exchange rate to pounds and even dollars, I cannot afford to pay top dollar, so would hope to pay between $200-$300.
Has anyone dealt with the afore-mentioned Texan seller (JLT Enterprises) on chono24? And please could advise of anything other sources that may be available out there, or if any member has one they are willing to part with.
I am not a big fan of e-bay at all, and am also loath to get one from the east after reading various posts here.
I will also be posting a 'wanted' ad in the 'buy/ sell/ trade' area.
Much appreciated and many thanks, Marc

Well hello and great to have you with us....well you have picked a great model...do you have a preference with a older one or a newer one?...i think you must want a complete running model...the later ones will be the most reasonable.....the best might be placing a ad in the wanted to buy section too...most of us ship worldwide too so that is never a big problem...i have gotten a few of these myself over the past few years and i will offer this advice...things i did not know till after i got my first one...try and find one that is running...original as possible...very easy to change seals and gaskets...very hard to find some parts like broken stems...missing or damaged band...for how much you are looking to spend...you are in the ballpark for sure...do you have a preference between the blue or yellow dial?...if you need anything feel free to pm me too...i am always glad to help in any way...God Bless John

Thanks John,
Thanks for the advise. I am not to fussed about an older or newer one, but just hoping to get one that is pretty sound mechanically, as i know parts can be hard to source.
It seems that the yellowed dialed versions fetch a little more than the blue/ black? is that correct? at this stage i like the look of both so would not mind either.
Sent you a PM by the way.
Regards, Marc

well this is true...the blue dialed ones are the most reasonable for sure..and the later models will be the ones in your price range too..you can always find a cheaper one but most chrono's will need some work and that can get a little pricey too....Good Luck on your search...God Bless John

The yellow dials tend to age better as it takes longer for UV fade to become apparent on the inner rotating ring, so they tend to look a bit better. There is also a reproduction dial out there for the yellow, so the perception is they are in better condition. The blue inner rotating rings fade to white/grey and look pretty bad. Also the yellow ones have the much spoken of Col. Pogue connection, which every hack job on ebay mentions on their auctions. I did a guide on these a while back, here's a link - vintagetimeaustralia.com/2014/11/27/buyers-guide-vintage-seiko-chronographs/The dial on the watch in the buyer's guide is a fake reproduction dial. Note the colour is off and it's missing the "Suwa" factory marks. And the font is wrong, and the applied SEIKO insignia is off-shape. Look really carefully when you do the comparison. Also on the crown/stem issue with these and how you can still be duped by dodgey operators - vintagetimeaustralia.com/2014/11/22/caveats-of-collecting-vintage-the-seiko-rotating-ring-dilemma/This piece is 100% original down to the crystal (the dial markers and hands were re-lumed though), so you can use it as a reference image - Thanks John, Thanks for the advise.
