I had a small tumble on the bike the other day, nothing serious, just a low speed drop that was completely my fault. Anyway my riding mate, 1964 Silverwave was ripped from my wrist as i hit the road and ended up quite away down the road :-/ Well, i went to pick it up and at first thought that it was wrecked Amazing it just needs a new crystal and it still runs! Although I'll send it in for a service just to be on the safe side. Just goes to show you how tuff these old watches are!

I was wearing one of my all-time favorite watches one day, a 6138-8020, and had already worn it for the better part of a year...nonstop. That is unusual for me. I had a small shop where my buddy and I worked on Volkswagens. I was doing something to a Rabbit, so I took the watch off and handed it to my friend Jon because I didn't want to damage it. Jon actually put the 6138 on his wrist, and was admiring it while I worked on the car. After I was done, he took the watch off and went to hand it to me. While doing so, he dropped it right onto the concrete floor! The crystal was broken, and the minute hand was actually knocked off of it's axle (it is resting against the 7:00 marker in the pic). But it still ran fine, and I wore it daily for a couple years afterwards once I repaired it. They are pretty tough!

Oh my goodness, I'm glad it wasn't worse off...please keep us updated on it's recovery. When I'm driving, I'll typically hang my arm out the window. Some days, depending on what I'm wearing, I'll bring it back in...because I have visions of me, stopping traffic, so I can retrieve my watch off the Interstate.

Yikes . . . . watch road rash . . . . bummer!
Glad it wasn't worse and I'm sure it will be as good as new with a bit of TLC.

Yikes! Glad that you're okay.
Difficult to say but *cough* it's just a watch.
I didn't say that, did I?

I am glad that the only bike I own is a stationary bike that sits on a carpeted floor!
