please forgive my moment of stupidity but have forgotten but does the 6309-7040 bezel require a rubber gasket to prevent it from slipping freely around or is the click ball sufficient enough to prevent that? I simply cant recall! TIA

The rubber gasket keeps the bezel from rattling around. The click ball should keep it from rotating though.

So If I hear you correctly.........I can install the new bezel w/o the rubber gasket and it will do just fine but wont rotate? Is that correct? If so I can just go ahead and put the bezel back on it it will be ok?

Without the rubber o ring, the bezel can still be rotated like normal and the click ball will still keep it from accidentally rotating. The o ring simply prevents the bezel from rattling; it keeps it snug.
