I always adjust the reset click on my 6138s and 6139s to make them reset "soft". Makes me feel better.

The service docs say that both buttons should have the same feel, e.g. soft. I think they've been made harder in previous bad services or by the metal changing shape over time. I always adjust the reset click on my 6138s and 6139s to make them reset "soft". Makes me feel better.

does the sweep hand reset in both directions - like it takes the closest path to zero?

I didn't want to jack that other thread so I started a new topic. So a 6139 chrono should always be left running? Just non stop? My take on it. Mechanical vertical column chronos: run non-vertical column chronos: don't run quartz chronos: don't run OK . . . there we have it . . . . the opinion of a professional watch maker! Thanks for taking the time to make the video to explain it to those of us who are less technically proficient.

Thanks spencer excellent vid and nice to hear from a guy of your experience and abilities. What a nice 6139-600x!!!
When I use my chrono I never reset from the bottom of the sweep aka 30 seconds. I always restart the chrono function and let it get to the 12 before stopping it and resetting the entire chrono function.
Also seen the second hand mill itself out the center hole on the hand pipe and hate making new center boss/pipe for the seconds hands as it takes so much time for such a small part! I finished one the other week and as I took it out of my watch lathe collet it pinged away never to be seen again! Got to remember these seconds hands were not designed to keep going back on so a lot are looser than you would hope for in the first place.

Still has bits of the caseback sticker in place.

does the sweep hand reset in both directions - like it takes the closest path to zero? They're on heart wheels, so whatever side of the dial the hand is on (0-30 minutes, 31-59 minutes) it'll continue that way during reset. I like to get that sweep past :00 and then reset because then the finger gets out of interference with the minute-counter wheel / intermediate wheel assembly. It's just a cleaner reset in my opinion. The fewest possible complications.

I even don't care if the return is slightly ragged (on my own watches) - anything to decrease the reset force is good.
