Not as cool as the black dial, but the simple elegance of this case and the Arabic numbers is very fetching to me. It is said to be not running, but the movement looks clean inside so I’m hoping it just needs a service. Update: it is indeed a non-runner but it wants to run when I give the barrel a push. The balance looks good. I think it just needs a service. This will be a nice watch when I’m done with it. Update 2: what I thought was a scratch on the crystal was a scratch on the dial. Dammit.

This one was in the mail. Just cracked open the envelope. Filthy, but the dial is oh so sweet. Fired up with a new battery. The extra stamp on the caseback is a bonus. It was loved. Rob Gorgeous lume, Rob.

Love this thread.
Lots of tools on the way. I told myself I needed to service a 6139B before I bought anything else. Reading this thread was a bad idea 😂 Now I have a few more “want to find someday” watches.

You certainly remember my last catch with my friend, a batch of 6139's... You remember ? This one... The parcel arrived in France then stopped moving... I contacted the courier after some days, but he had no good news for me... No physical scan after arriving in France, they don't know where it is. My friend in Asia told me they asked him some pictures of the parcel and of the content, so they can continue the investigation... Oh no! I sure hope this turns up for you TinkeringFR ! Ditto... from joy on the way to heartbreak hotel in a matter of a few days. mnem ouch.

My first Timex. I think it's a neat one.
And one for the "Things that piss me off" thread - other bidders that bid in increments of 100 yen every few minutes at the end of the auction. Dude never got near my bid, but incrementally bid from 1 yen to 1,300 yen, stringing out the close of the auction by 30 minutes.

I really think the auction shouldn't be extended unless the new bid exceeds the highest bid.

I really think the auction shouldn't be extended unless the new bid exceeds the highest bid. Yeah, it's because I'm using Buyee sniper bidding. So the guy bids, Buyee counterbids on my behalf, and then the guy takes four minutes and thirty seconds to decide to bid 100 yen more. Rinse, repeat. If I just bid regularly, it'd work like you suggest.

If I just bid regularly, it'd work like you suggest. People don’t understand soft close auctions. There's no reason to wait until the last seconds to bid. They think it’s like eBay. Just make a sniper bid with your highest number and wait for an email from Buyee to tell you you’ve been outbid and decide if you want to snipe any higher.

I had one such auction that went on for one and a half hours. Halfway through I started enjoying myself and got carried away by the thrill of it. I ended up paying about 2,000 yen over what I had set aside as my max.

When I forget to bid on something it always seems to go for peanuts. When I do bid I always seem to end up in a bidding war with one other person. Go figure.

WOW! I have an 88 C022 in bits at the moment. Same story. I found corrosion on a couple of wheels. I lucked out and found an Aqualand being parted out on eBay. I am waiting for them to arrive from the USA. I will keep you posted. Let me know how you are getting on. If you decide it is too much for you let me know, I dont mind another project I just received a first generation two-tone Citizen Aqualand C022 from 1993! It was a one-owner watch from Japan and the condition is immaculate, but the batteries were never removed after it stopped running… There was clearly leakage, and I did some simple cleaning and put in a set of fresh batteries. Unfortunately the analogue movement doesn’t seem to work, though the digital LCD clock and the depth meter seems to be in fine condition. I might just strip it apart to clean the gears and re-oil them (though this would be my first Aqualand I’d be taking apart, or any watch for that matter). Fingers crossed the analogue movement will be running again! Might not want to try this as your first attempt. We had a guy here try that once on a absolutely stunning 6309. He scratched the dial taking the hands off because he kept chasing them with the levers as it was running vs/ just putting a piece if clear plastic over them, which would have stopped the hands...

I've been after one of these for a bit. Will need to replace the crystal. I was also after a white VFA blinker, but came in second on that one - will be curious to see if one of you got it.
