Finally have one of these coming, has been on my watch list for a long time.
But, I also got the dreaded shipping sidetrack to Puerto Rico, like Victor just recently posted here.

Are you in the Carolinas too?

No, I am in Texas. This isn't the first time I have had a package diverted there, and if you do some googling you will see this is a common occurrence. Frustrating- It was shipped beginning of week, tracking initially showed it would arrive Thursday.. Then, NOPE! let's take a little vacation to Puerto Rico! Who is in charge over there at the USPS, anyway?

Some buys the last few days... Soon after I got my last parcel, my box in Asia felt empty... As I told my friend I'm always open to new SKXA's he sent me a picture of a poor condition one, but cheap... -> to the box At least I know in this condition, it's an untouched one... Then he said me he needed a bit cash and wanted to sell his Stormtrooper 6139... A nice cheaper than cheap, all original one, but needing some extra care. Well, there's always some free space in the "to do" box, and if it's full, I take a bigger one The first of April I decided I should limit my shopping spree... But my friend wasn't in the same mood... He told me one of his friend and watch seller was about to sell some watches from his personal 6139 collection... If I wanted a pogue, it was the day to decide fast... He showed me the pogue I already talked about in the pogue thread. The watch is said to be in perfect "working condition". I still have some doubts about their notion of "perfect working condition", even with a video. But as he asked the price some ask for items sold as "junk", there was no hesitation. I thought it was enough for this week, but I found the sellers facebook, and saw he had some more Pogue, Bruce Lee and other nice speedtimer... There was this blue Bruce Lee, (I know, a Bruce lee should be black)... It wasn't for sale... As I was chatting with my friend, telling him his friend had this nice 6139-6010, he told me he asked him, and the guy said : There's no plans to sell it, it's his favorite, but maybe... I don't know what my friend promised him, but a few minutes later he said I could have it... and at a real decent price... As I was hesitating my friend told me : Are you crazy ? The next time you'll have such an offer, you'll get a "Jackie Chan", not a "Bruce Lee"... I should delete this money transfer app from my phone ... Ok that should be enough now... That's what I thought... When suddenly, yesterday the seller decided to make bundle prices... That was too much for me, I called my coworker, we chatted until late in the evening with our friend in Asia... And guess it... My coworker added 2 more to our box... There are still some left, but I want to survive my april bank statement.

TinkeringFR I think your wallet thinks you are a lost cause and now just opens itself on your behalf without asking You have made a very exciting purchase no doubt, and how fun to include your friends in on it too!
Today I got sideswiped too. I am supposed to be working on my presentations for Monday and Tuesday but got side-tracked investigating a new to me movement technology. A Bulova 242.10 "Stepping Motor Quartz Time Zone" movement to be precise. This 1977 piece allows you to move only the hour hand at the first crown position to correct for a time-zone change during travel. Even more interesting to me is the stepper motor type drive which was first realized when I found myself the Chaika 3050 'Resonator' watch (still in hospital I am afraid). There is rumor that Citizen helped or produced this movement for Bulova but I don't know if this is true or not. You bet i'll be tearing it apart and put up a post about it here!
Seller's photos - This will match my Wife's Seiko 7N83-0041 perfectly
The heart of this watch, the stepping motor. I love different technologies of time keeping so I'm pretty excited about it!

Yes inboost , it's fun to share a passion with a close friend. My colleague and I met at university, then after a few years we started working at the same school, both as technology teachers. We've worked together for almost 24 years, we're good friends, and sometimes I think he knows me as well as my brother. Sure, as most of us, I'm a lost cause but if you knew how cheap we bought some of these 6139's, you would ask to join our buying group. This stepping motor technology is really interesting. That's what fun with watches, you can enjoy this passion for years and still be impressed by the inventiveness of the creators creators of these timepieces.

inboostNice one! Looks early and has a construction bit like in Girard Perregaux 35x. On gp 35x the rotor is encased inside a coil surrounding it.

I have another box due to land on Tuesday... I managed to get hold of one of the green glitter dial Hisonics. It doesn't have a bracelet, but I'm sure I have a correct bracelet in my collection somewhere. I have a few Vega divers on the way too including a teal dial and a full-lume! A couple of Ricohs too including a 100m diver, and a pvd Hamilton-Ricoh which I haven't seen before

TinkeringFR, that's a great story and of course I'd love to be part of the cool collectable cheap chrono club
Congrats on that green glitter Hisonic twhp101! I love that orange dial Ricoh too! I can't say why but the Ricoh brand is one I like a lot, probably just becuase it's different but still vintage Japanese.

I'd have one of those GP 35 with the electronics diagram dial in a heartbeat if they were affordable trilo. I agree, it's very similar looking mechanics.

inboost thanks very much! I feel the same about Ricoh, I think for similar reasons. Japanese but much less well known. I like things a bit different too. On the subject of the orange dial Ricoh, by total fluke I also found another example of (I think) the same watch which is also arriving on Tuesday. Same design, same orange dial, Ricoh on the caseback and built by them (found other examples). This one has Lightning Bolt on the dial. Both of these orange watches were listed as running so fingers crossed! Very poor seller's photo below. I added the Ricoh so side by side comparison easier. They look like the same watch to me (dial logos apart), but hard to tell from the photos

saldog that's a good pickup! I get the emails from Buyee, but they always seem to be for handbags and Pokemon cards and never watches. Must try harder. I find Buyee not the easiest to search/navigate, but I've always used FromJapan so maybe just used to the way they do things. I picked up my first King Seiko today. I have a couple of Vanacs but I don't really count them. It's a 4402-8000 from October '65 so has the gold KS shield medallion.

I see lots of bracelets listed all the time too so finding one maybe shouldn’t be too hard. The ones with a gold medallion intact are special. Can’t wait to see a wrist shot!
