Ok, who's going to make me look like a knucklehead by buying this guy and turning it into gold: I already know there's at least one WS member that can do it - anyone else? This is currently on the 'bay for ~$300 or so. Good luck to any buyer!!! Dan

Can that sub-dial be recovered? That dial can be restored but at a large cost. I'd guess $400+ by someone such as David Bill & Son's over here in the UK.

There is no way I would drop that kind of coin for that watch!

That's over half the price of a 6138-7000 in good condition.

There is a lot of work recreating a dial. It's silk screen printed for a start so they have to make up the silks to do all the fine work. If there are more than one color needed they will need even more silks made. Then they have to remove all the brightwork and such and refinish the surface ready for paint. Once they have a template the second job becomes much cheaper.
I'd want to see inside that before buying as it looks to me like there is a lot of rust hiding away inside and beneath that dial. Movement could be trashed.

If I could get it for $50, I'd have a shot at it. Case is great as long as it doesn't have any pitting in the back!
