Is this one of those calibers where you have to put a screwdriver into a certain hole and twist it a little? Those are a pain.

Quartz bellMATIC? ? Doesn't the "matic" have something to do with autoMATIC??? after some searching I'm thinking these were not officially branded as bells? No; the name was given by someone who had no understanding of what automatic means nor 'bell' as in Bellmatic. A Bellmatic is an automatic mechanical watch with a mechanically driven striker that makes the bell tone. The quartz alarm watch is just that, a quartz watch and the alarm is the sound of a piezoelectric device transmitted through a spring to the case back of the watch. No quartz alarm watch has ever been branded as a Bellmatic!

The design was named the Quartz Bellmatic because the alarm set the same way as the mechanical Bellmatic using the chaprter ring vs an alarm hand or subdial. I had one years ago and sold it.

Josh, you know that doesn't make sense. If it did then every watch that has a crown at three o'clock could be called a Rolex It's just another sad example of someone slapping an inappropriate nick name on a watch because they didn't really understand what it was they were saying.

technically a bellmatic doesn't even have a bell How so...it has a clapper and makes a ringing sound; ergo it has a bell

The Quartz Piece of hardened steel that goes "bong" when hit with a hammer thing that does something automagically is called "Alarm Quartz" by Seiko. Has the designation 7223-6010.

In the clock trade we call that a gong not a bell but a gongmatic doesn't sound so good :-/ I'm pretty sure that the bell in Bellmatic is a reference to the sound rather than the shape of any of the parts. But a Gongmatic might be kind of kool 7dfe79adc2f0

As defined by Oxford Dictionaries
bell Pronunciation: /bɛl/ noun 1A hollow metal object, typically in the shape of a deep inverted cup widening at the lip, that sounds a clear musical note when struck, especially by means of a clapper inside.
A gongamatic it is then!
