Hi everyone,
I started with a Seiko 6m23 intelligent calendar many years ago and now have a mix of Seikos and other watches. The only theme so far is that I collect dual crown watches with internal bezels.
Slide Rule Bezel: Seiko 6M23-7000
Compass Bezel: Seiko SARG001 Seiko SBCJ019 Alpinist GMT Seiko SBCJ031 Alpinist GMT
I have taken a recent interest in vintage 6117s and 6139s and I hope to learn from the active discussions on Wrist Sushi. Look forward to meet you all!
Cheers, Ronald

I wore this SARG001 today at work. It is dressy enough for the office, but I can also wear it with khakis or jeans. As an Alpinist fan and this series is marketed as an unbranded "Alpinist" model I was ready ready to buy one until I realized I already had a watch that was $5 that met all of the criteria of why I wanted one of these. If I find the black dial for the right price I may have to bow down to temptation and buy it. The one I really wanted.

You're right, that Wenger achieves the look of the SARG005, but the one big difference is that it is missing the 4 o'clock crown and the internal bezel! If you are sitting in a meeting bored out of your mind, and you're not in a position to get up and walk out, spinning that internal bezel around will save your sanity! Or not. But I just like the thought that I could do that. Thinking back, I remember I wanted a white/cream dialed watch with an internal bezel. The Alpinists were the obvious choice. I really wanted the SBCJ031 but I couldn't find one at that time. I wasn't too keen on either the 4S15 or 6R15 versions because of the mercedes hands and I was worried the dial would look too yellow vs the white date. So I was very happy that the SARG001 came around, with its black hands for better legibility, lighter dial color and bigger 40mm dial. And it has proved to be versatile, dependable and still look good. Still happy. One day when my eyesight starts to fail me, I might need one of those 4S15 Alpinists with the date cyclops...
