As I've been favouring mechanical watches for just over a year now, my quartz collection has been mostly sitting in their boxes, happily ticking away. I decided recently that I would do an en-masse battery change, mainly so that I would have a good indication of how long a battery had been in the watch and wouldn't get any nasty (hopefully) surprises of neglecting a watch accidentally. So, this weekend I've changed the batteries in the majority of my 7Axx watches. The 7A38's (with a couple of 7A48's in there) and the 7A28's and a pile of these That was harder work than I thought it would be. I'll do the 7Txx's and the Citizens soon. Then the Casios ........

Beautiful quartz chrono collection. No wonder it's getting so hard to find a good 7a38 or 7a28 these days, especially a Giugiaro, you've taken all the good ones!

You surely don't need all of the Quartz Pogues, do you?

Wow, that's like an army of watches, standing in perfect formation, ready for action at a moment's notice.
Lovely collection!

Maybe pull the stems on the ones not in any sort of regular rotation ?
My personal favorite is the first pic, 2nd row, 3rd from right, the 3 subdial Moon Phase on the tan strap. Fantastic.

Pulling the stems on all but a small number of base model quartz watches does not save anything. In fact, mid to high tier watch manuals tell the owner not to do this. Additionally, considering the self draining on the shelf of most batteries, there is no advantage to pulling the stem. In fact, leaving it in may actually get more life out of the battery.

Are you missing the insides to this one or is it a subject of your magnificent refurbishment ? Rob yep - that one is having a full strip down at the moment. I haven't done much with the 7Axx movements for a long time, but given that it was the first watch I fully stripped (and re-assembled working!!) I have a real soft spot (and liking) for them. One thing you notice after having worked on a mechanical is how small and how many the parts are!!.

Good to know. Thank you for the lesson.
