I've been crazy busy but I wanted to surface long enough to say hi and catch up. I haven't been here enough, and I'd love to find out what's going on. What's up? What's new? New watches? New challenges? All I've been wearing is the SUN019, so nothing new to report

Glad to see that you could get your head above water for long enough to stop in and say hi! Hope the wife and kids are doing well. New to me is a Dagaz Typhoon II . . . . the wife got it for me as a 25th Anniversary gift.

Nothing to report here, happy with the state of the watch box, no new aquisitions (not that the want list got any shorter) busy with work and kids, same old chestnut. Hope you are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Glad to see you back. Hope you're recovering from your period of overwork.
Over the last 8 weeks I added beautiful examples of the vintage Grand Seiko trifecta (3180 - First GS; 43999 - Second GS - first in steel and first with date; 6245-9000 - 3rd GS and first automatic), grabbed a cool 8941-5000 1/100th of a second mechanical Seiko stopwatch developed for the '64 games, found a nice 6159-7001 to finally complete my vintage Seiko diver lineup (except maybe a ScubaPro 6306), picked up '68, '69 and original Speed Timer catalogs, landed a platinum Queen Seiko for the wife, arranged an upcoming in-person deal for the LE Blue GS Diver SBGA071, and claimed one of the 2 Credor Eichi II's allotted to the United States for 2015.
Probably the craziest 2 months I'll ever have in my watch-collecting lifetime.
Other than that, not much - started to get in shape. It sounds strange, but the Eichi II makes me want to be a better man.

Yes, things here are getting better, saner, more manageable. I've stopped taking pretty much all work except for stuff that's really interesting such as original-owner watches (there have been a few recently and I just can't say no), or unusual / rare models. I have absolutely stopped trying to be Jonathan and do parts searches for random people. If it isn't a crystal, we don't sell it. So instead of burning all kinds of time chasing down random bits of information and parts for people, we just say "I'm sorry, we only sell crystals" and refer them here to ask y'all.
As a result, my days are back to what they should be - doing watch work. It's been one of the most productive months I've had since Jonathan died, which was just about a year ago (June 7th last year).
I do have a batch of new watches coming in from one of our own, so I'll have a few new things to play with, but mostly no new acquisitions.

So glad you've found a way to cut the scale back to something more rewarding. I understand your being enamored with the SUN019. I just drove my son across country last week with one on my wrist, intending to swap it out for a different watch each day. I have to say that upon hitting the 1st time zone change, the ease with which I could adjust the hour hand without even having to stop the second hand was awesome. A great travelers watch. I get I should have understood this ahead of time as it's a GMT, but you know, sometimes.....
Question for you re: the SUN019 - have you given any thought to modding one? I keep thinking a vintage dial and minute track on the watch might look cool, but I'm worried the depth of the dial could be an issue.

So glad to hear things are getting in balance for you Spencer. Keep on keepin' on. Good idea to stick to your knitting and abandon random parts help. Send stem and crown and crystal seekers my way too ! LOL My big news is the 5717-8000 1965 Asian Games Single Button Chrono I received. My wife's cousin's husband (my favorite guy on her side!) bought it new in Vietnam while stationed there. I will restore it as a project so he can wear it again and then some day pass it on to his son or grandson. It was missing the chapter ring (how??) and chrono push button (of course) both of which are nearly impossible to source. I PM'd you if you recall. I got lucky on the chapter ring via SpeedTimerKollection. Then a pure blessing from Heaven happened when a member over on TOF PM'd me that he had the button, stem and spring - all for free!!!! He wanted to help get this one restored and back to its original owner. What an incredible gesture, I am still in shock over how kind some WIS's can be to others in need. Here is the "day received" photo. Notice how the missing chapter ring is not really missed by the untrained eye:

Good to see you stop by And good to hear that you didn't have a nervous breakdown or such from all of the pressures of running a successful small business.

Hi Spencer, Great to see you here! I am now back to divers watches because I think I've found all the 70s watches I like. (Until another shows up!!!) Glad to see you take a break once in awhile.

Good to see you in a better mood Spencer and hope the stress stays away. I agree, the SUN019 tends to hog wrist time from the rest.
