So, did you folks see anything you liked? Did anybody BUY anything?!? If I wasn't paying off my SBDS001, I would have bought the gray Lord Matic Special, myself... Also, he had the golden brother to one of my beautiful King Seiko VANACs, but missing the faceted crystal. So it didn't sell, right away, but it came up during my negotiations for the Seiko Flight Master, so I held off. But checking it today, it was sold!! Waaaaaa! I sure am missing out on a lot of nice stuff, all for that SBDS001 Flight Master. But you know what? It's worth it!!!! Bwahaha-ha-ha!! - Thomas

Hey Fellas,
I'm a completely newbie here, so apologies for the silly question.
How legit is the Antique Watch Bar?
I've been emailing the owner/webmaster, and am about to purchase a watch from them. I just wanted to know if anyone's had experience with them, and if there's anything I should be wary of.
Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be great.

He has a good name. I've seen plenty of folk recommend buying from him. I'd have had that grey LM myself if I'd spotted it a few minutes earlier than I did as by the time I got my money ready it had sold.

Mostly the "sells too quickly" problem! But I am sure his is legit, hes been doing this for years and all kinds of people have bought from him in the past. - Thomas

This is the first time I have heard of them but from the looks of it they seem to be the main source for all of Thomas' great vintage hard to find awesome scores. Nah, I don't think I have ever managed to buy anything from him. Like I said above it usually sells too quickly for me to get my request in, but occasionally his price was a little too high for me. I've gotten 99.9% of my "great vintage Seikos" off eBay, from my "top four" sellers (whom I have documented before). The rest from the forums, by using "WatchRecon" and moving quickly. - Thomas

Hi Gents, Thanks for your enthusiastic responses. After much contemplation, I decided to purchase this beautiful Lord Marvel from the Antique Watch Bar: I was a little nervous about the purchase, but the watch arrived within 5 days of it being shipped and was even lovelier than the detailed pictures posted on the Antique Watch Bar. I've decided to embark on a pilgrimage to the Hi Beat Grand Seiko; this gorgeous Lord Marvel is the first step. It has a very simple manual winding 5740C movement which beats at 5 Hz/36000 vpm. It gains approximately 15s per day, which is pretty good for a ~50 year old watch (I think). Perhaps its the fact that this is my first vintage, but I simply love this watch. Its smart, special and understated. Let me know what you guys think!
