Your wetting my appetite. I'm not sure if my restorer wants a plug or not but he has put a fishbone bracelet on and it's looking really good. He has the original bracelet ends but I will need 2 or 3 links to complete it. I agree With Him, the fishbone looks and will wear much better. I will probably source parts as I can to complete the band down the track. This is how it started It's kind of exciting to see it piece together. Hope you all get your Grail. And even if it's not perfect when you get it, there are magicians out there who can bring it back to its intended glory. Cam

That does look good on the fishbone Cam. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Panda prices definitely going high lately. I was crazy annough and sell few years ago one great piece on one european watch forum. Watch was in excellent original condition with steelux bracelet. I barely get 250€ for it. Last year I was desperately looking for Panda again. I was lucky annough and get one from us ebay, but I paid for it twice more. And I was ready to pay more just to have this watch again. My advice is....if you want to spend realistic amount of money, be patient and you will found one definitely. My big problem is that I am not patient.... :-(

Not to pour salt in anyone's wound, but it just amazes me how much prices have risen on these. I bought this one around 2008. It came out of a watchmaker's estate in St Louis, and I got it off of Ebay. The watch was missing it's pushers, pusher springs, casing ring, and casing spring. I bought it because it had a minty dial, and planned to use it for parts. When it arrived, I found that it ran VERY strong and kept great time. I suspect it was probably treated to a full service by the watchmaker and the customer never picked it up. Over time, the watchmaker likely picked parts off of it for other watches that customers brought in. I replaced the missing parts and wore it for the better part of five years...straight! A personal record for me that stands to this day. I paid $46 for it. It was certainly a good deal then, and I think the missing parts put a lot of bidders off. PS: IIRC, this picture was a 'beta test' taken with one of Jonathan's pre-production 350T02AN EastTech replacement crystals.

Keep the faith, guys, miracles still do happen. Three months ago I got my Panda from Ebay. Listed as a "Seiko Vintage Chronograph", it looked quite dirty with a heavily damaged crystal. But it appeared to be all original, including the bracelet, and underneath the crystal the dial and hands looked to be in very good condition. And for a BIN of $200 I knew there was no time for hesitation. Here are two seller's pics: After it arrived, I gave it a good clean, replaced the gaskets because the pushers turned out to be sticky, and put on a new crystal. And here it is now:

My guess is that the subdial was scratched taking off or putting the hand on and some enterprising chap decided to cover it up by scratching the paint off completely.

I agree the Panda is such a beautiful piece. And just like my Bullhead, I regret selling mine to fund getting the Speedy. I thought I would be lucky enough to get another one in decent condition. I was wrong, these things are getting pretty scarce! Here's a photo of my old Panda, very classy, very understated. Sigh. The linen dial also stands out. I'm hopeful there's a few left out there for all of us

For tfjordan And just a nice damn watch!!! Word of caution - don't get snared by redial, of which there are many. Original dial has silvery white linen texture dial and grayish subdials. Redials are pure/stark white with black subdials. Happy hunting!
