Hey guys,
Deciding on a crystal to use for my next project (The watch i showed in the thread of the parts i picked up last week). I've got one 6309 with a bubble boy in it, the orange one has a standard flat Seiko crystal.. was thinking a 6105 with the flat top but tall height might be something neat to use for a different look. Either the type 1, or 2.
The watch is eventually going to end up a TST when i can afford to have John machine the case.. until then it'll stay a standard 7548.
If anyone has done this post some pictures up, i'd love to see the differences. Or even if you have a type 1 or 2 in a 6105 case some pictures for reference would be great!
Nick.

The domed crystal looks awesome in the 6309/7548 case. I got mine in sapphire from crystal times on eBay. I think it suits the chunkier dive cases. I have a flat sapphire on the 7548 and domed on 6309. Think the domed would suit the 7548. The crystals are spec'd to the 6105 I think. I will take side shots of both when I get home. Cam

Hey Cam,
I've got a bubble boy in my black dial 6309 and a flat original Seiko in the other orange 6309 and i'd have to say i do much prefer the "depth" the bubble boy gives. The flat crystal i just don't think brings out the dial quite like the domed crystals do.
Your 6309 looks like a 6105 profile and i do think they suit them more than the flat ones. I just thought a 6105 crystal might be something different as i've already got the flat, and the bubble boy. I didn't want to go another bubble boy although i have considered it. They look great with the black dials.

Here are those side profiles. The 6105 and the 6309 have the same crystals on them. I'm not a purist when it comes to crystals. I see them like windscreens of cars. If they need replacing... I don't think it has the dome highly of your bubble boy and don't think it will help if I dig out the original 6105 Crystal to compare. I'm a big fan of the depth of the dial with the slight dome and wished I'd domed the 7548.

I've done this mod for a few dudes with 6309's. My 6309 project has the domed crystal. It gives it a more luxurious feel. Does work. It looks awesome.
You can use any of the 320W series crystals in there.

Cam thanks for those pics! I think i'm set on using a 6105 crystal on the new project. I'll keep the bubble boy just for my black dial 6309 i think. Now to just decide whether to go the type 1 or type 2 crystal..
I agree Adrian, the domed crystal gives such a different feeling to the watch. I find the flat crystals rather boring to be honest.
