This hasn't seen the light of day for a long time. Cheap and cheerful from France. Just liked the look of it!

Attachment DeletedClick on pic to enlarge and rotate ! This arrived just yesterday. Last night mounted on a spare vintage bracelet. Looking for something better. Guess I forgot to move the date ahead to the 1st - glad this isn't a contest photo! After I restored my family member's original 5717 Single Button Chrono he bought new in Vietnam in 1965 I knew I had to get one for myself. This one runs like a top but has some room for improvement cosmetically. Stay tuned!

Off out again later this evening, seems that I now have a social life......It can't last So, again a parting from my usual wrist candy this evening. One of my few gold plated Seiko's a sealion. I just love the split day \ date on this one and the linen dial. Attachment Deleted

Okay, on a very happy night, I think THIS is the dressiest watch I own! Why is tonight so happy? Well, I bought a historically significant 1965 Grand Seiko 6245 from my favorite eBay vintage watch seller, saitama-jp, for significant money. But when I received it, I found that on one of the lugs someone had used a cutting wheel to remove a corroded-in-place spring pin, leaving the part of the spring pin corroded in the hole! This damage has been completely NOT disclosed in saitama_jp's auction description and pictures, and he claims he just overlooked it, and had not noticed. I find that hard to believe, but he has been 100% accurate on the other 30 or more watches I bought from him in the past, so I don't know what to think. No watchmaker wanted the job, so each night I have been soaking the area in Kroil (a marvelous corrosion dissolver) and picking at it with the point of a needle. And tonight the end of the pin came out! Woohoo! I cleaned out the hole and it ended up only slightly larger than it should be and plenty deep to hold a new pin. I put a strap on the watch, and now I can continue the unveiling I started last weekend. I also celebrated with several double-shots of Svedka vodka, so pardon me if my elocution is lacking this evening! :imok: Returning to the watch of the day, if you remember the Parisian striped Seiko SARB watch from yesterday, I could not imagine a more dressy watch than that on my collection. But for some reason I started investigating the full line of SARB watches, just to make sure I knew about every single one of them. I found some exotic models, like the black and rose gold SARB073: and the SARB070: But I wasn't into the black or the two-tone. Then I saw a picture of the Seiko SARB072, and it was love at first sight! It comes on this beautifully color-matched strap, with a nifty deployant that looks like a traditional buckle. Nicely done Seiko! I can't believe what a transition I have made from solid, rugged tool watches on sturdy oyster bracelets to these extremely dressy watches on delicate leather straps. By the way, if you like this SARB072, I recommend you click on this link and visit Kelvin's photo gallery and look at his pictures there; Kelvin Tan's SARB072 Photo GalleryI think that is "it" for my Seiko SARB collection. If I hadn't drank so much I would do a group shot, but maybe I squeeze one in soon. Tomorrow I'll wear one of a pair of watches that are not exactly SARB's, but are very close. Tune in and see what I mean! - Thomas P.S. Sorry about the color balance on the gold, it is really much redder than shown, see Kelvin's pictures for a more accurate rendition. My old 6MP Canon always does this on this watch, and it is hard to fix, and I just didn't have the energy tonight.

Love your posts Thomas, so full of detail and passion. It's Friday already and the sun has come out on casual Friday so my 6306 has come out to play on a work day.
