It's pitting. If it isn't on the top visible side of the watch, in my best Tony Soprano voice "Don't even worry about it". Saw this watch it looks like corrosion on the gold finish is that what it is and is it even repairable?

The back reads "SGP" which means Seiko Gold Plated, or a very thin gold-contaoning layer - karats unknown, trust me, it's low.
The brown area can often be revived back to the gold color by rubbing off the crud, but I never really like the surface below.
I have never had much success getting these to shine again like new. Certainly if it's worn off it's gone for good. If it's scratched but still gold colored, I've never been able to smooth it out very well.
On the good side, if it isn't scratched up, it can be made to shine like the sun.

Kind of on the fence about what it's worth.

Remember too it's an "open thru glass" model so you need to Case Opener for that. I got one from Adrian - Thank you again ! - it is a blast to use.

That's the term I was looking for! It's pitting. If it isn't on the top visible side of the watch, in my best Tony Soprano voice "Don't even worry about it". Tony probably said "Fageddaboudit"

If the dial is OK, the Sea-Lions are worth 200-300+US now. Kind of on the fence about what it's worth.

I have a list of the anachronism some where, I'll find it and post it up.
