Hey gang, I see this at auction on the bay, BIN at US$1250, but taking offers: Isn't this the model that should have the plastic bezel? What do you think I should offer for it? Probably, "Zero! You have enough watches!" - Thomas

I think it's a stunning example and I am uncertain about the dial/bezel combination. What to offer is an excellent question and one I've always wanted to post a thread about - "The Art of the Lowball Offer".
If the price is in a reasonable range, I usually offer no more than 25% off. That is, if the item is for sale at $1000.00, then potentially the farthest down I will shoot is $750.00 with an offer. However, in this instance, I think this watch is a *bit* overpriced and I'm afraid an offer even at 25% off is still just a pinch too much to pay.
That being said, it is an excellent offering...all the seller can say is "No".
Good luck Thomas.

Why not search ebay for Sold 5719's? Hmm, I don't know how to do that? I don't normally get ended auctions when I search, is there a method you can share? - Thomas

Usually gives you items up to a couple of months ago. Here are those I found, but I think they're restricted to those available to Australia. You might find more. Divide by .70 to convert to $US. Oh, none of the examples above is really a great indication of value. 1 and 3 are the same watch sold twice and at minimum has the wrong pusher and a discoloured dial. 2 was sold as for repair - running 20 min slow per day and looks like the crown could be incorrect. Thomas's example looks much better.

The metal bezel examples go for a lot more than the ones with the plastic bezels. For the price, I'd probably look for a plastic bezel model with a good dial - as I have to consider $AUD. That said, I'd really like a metal bezel.

Thank you all, very much, for your constructive comments and advice. This forum is certainly a friendly wellspring of vintage Seiko information and educated opinions, which I value highly. Thanks again, - Thomas
