Too damn hot for me anyway. My cheap thermometer won't be perfectly accurate but the shop I got it from had much more expensive ones that read the same temperature & I live in a valley that has it's own 'microclimate' that differs from the local area in temperature & weather conditions even in the winter. Taken in full sun about 3.30pm Left in the shade for about 15 minutes I've coped with these temperatures in other countries perfectly fine but here, it's not exactly humid but the air is thick & heavy & too hot to try & do anything in the garden. We don't generally have air-con here but I'm lucky that the ground floor of my house has 18 inch thick stone walls, so it's pretty cool. How are you guys coping in the hotter countries ? What are your temps ?

It's mighty hot here in Essex. Thermometer in conservatory, next to an open door is reading 82f, and it's hotter outside. I walked in to town this morning (6 miles) before it got too hot but I still had to change shirt and walking boots when I got there as a) it was getting a tad warm and b) Her Ladyship would have disowned me. She drove in, as she's not a keen walker. Then she made me pay for breakfast, and drive her home. whip.gif
Been working in the garden this afternoon cleaning out the pond filter but it's under trees so was quite cool. No watch for me at the moment as I don't have one I want to risk ruining !

It's mighty hot here in Essex. The Essex girls look like they're overdoing it with their tans at the moment 'OINK' ? Good choice of top. No offence to your county my lord, here on the Welsh border we're all Scrumpy swilling bumpkins who are 10 years behind the South of England in fashion & looks... Meanwhile, during the American heatwave...

I think the ladies in question (though I would question whether they are ladies !) are from what is locally known as "Sarfend", which is an extremely salubrious area of our county.
A young lady was recently involved in an accident and was covered in blood when the paramedics arrived. There was so much blood that the paramedic asked "where are you bleeding form ?".
"I'm from bleeding Sarfend" was her reply.

laughing1.gif Great joke ! Do you remember this 'Lion' that someone spotted in an Essex field last year & got all the armed police out hunting it ? Yep. Turned out to be a large ginger tom-cat

nice garden!
about the same here in the northeast US. very humid too. fairly typical for this time of year though. never lacking for air conditioning. we've had buckets of rain too so although I'm forced to mow the lawn every week, at least we aren't facing a drought. and my lilies look almost as nice as yours

Just moved from Australia, where the hottest day I experienced was 49 degrees C, to Canada, which is supposed to be cold. 38 degrees C in the shade in Calgary last week, and above 30 all week. And where in Oz I just put the airconditioning on for a while to get the bedroom to a comfortable temperature to sleep, Canadian houses typically do not have Airco, so had difficulty sleeping for a few nights. But all back to normal now, nice middle twenties.

I know what you mean with the humidity though, living in Malaysia 32 degrees C with the 100% humidity was much more overbearing compared to the dry heat in Australia. Step outside, and... BANG! Soaked with sweat!

Good luck coping with the heat, brother!

If you haven't experienced your first Calgary winter yet; you're in for a treat freaked-out-smiley-emoticon One day around labour day in September; you'll be BBQing in the back yard then wake up the next morning to snow and sub zero temps! Several years ago, we took our daughter to get enrolled at ACAD. It was a warm 35 deg when we rolled into town on the Sunday evening. When we got up in the morning; it was -2 deg and the snow was coming down sideways! Fortunately, it was short lived and we managed to get out of town before the real winter settled in.

That's a big delta T, Peter! In Aberdeen I loved the snowy winters, so I'm looking forward to the Canadian winter! It was part of the attraction of moving here! a115
