...and to me it looks like a re-issue of the 6309-704x divers: To be released in May 2016 according to a post I found on reddit. Don't like the Prospex logo on the dial, but I guess I'm in

Guess I better sell my 6309 7040 now before they're valueless :-)

Fuuuck'n -A! I wish they had a black bezel model, but I am buying one of these.
About damned time Seiko realized how right they had their divers back in the '70s.

I don't mind the blue and black one but i still think the originals are better. The case looks very similar but not quite as good as the originals.
These will be SUPER popular though i would think. That reddit post said $258.. that's a phuking bargain right there.

Maybe there's some truth to those SKX007 being discontinued rumours...

Anyone else notice the minute hands are matched to the bezel insert?

End of the market for modded 6309s. Why pay $250 for a clapped out old piece with AM parts when you can get a brand new one with a modern movement to keep stock or mod to your hearts content.

Anyone else notice the minute hands are matched to the bezel insert? So they are. Sharp eyes. Being young has it's perks I don't know if i'd get one, i guess i'd want to see how reliable they are. I love that both my 6309's are quartz and therefore pretty damn accurate. Having the 6105 be extremely reliable and then drop off all of a sudden a few times and having to go back for another service and examination leads me to not be so excited about other mechanicals. It was almost COSC besides the times it dropped off though so perhaps these new ones will be nice and reliable.. I really don't know anything on these new movements though. I guess i'd have to do some research once they come out and we see what they actually look like. The idea that the modded 6309's time is at an end is a worthwhile hope i think. People asking that kind of money for essentially a movement you can get in a dress watch for less than 10 bucks.. and a cushion case is outrageous.

There's a big difference between a brand new movement and your 40 year old 6105. I think the 4S36 would be considered an upgrade on the workhorse 7S26 used in the SKX divers. No one is complaining that they're unreliable and most will go their entire working life without being serviced.

I really don't know anything on these new movements though. I guess i'd have to do some research once they come out and we see what they actually look like. The 4R36 has been around since 2011, and it is essentially a hacking and hand-winding variation of the 7S26. I haven't heard of anyone having any problems with them. I have an SRP311, and though I don't care for the styling of the watch, I like the movement. I will have to see photos of the new "6309" version rather than an artist's rendering, but it looks like a winner.

It has been available for several years I believe, and is identical to the SII NH35A sold by Seiko for non-Seiko watches. I have one non-Seiko with the NH35A and recently sold another with two more incoming. They are good solid watches that run well.

In that market SEIKO is competing against pretty much every other low cost brand and CITIZEN that have had at least handwinding forever. So it's about time they moved the 7S26 along to the big box of old watch shit in the sky. I mean, the BOM difference would be a matter of cents at the end of the day. I really don't know anything on these new movements though. I guess i'd have to do some research once they come out and we see what they actually look like. I'm in on both of those, they look amazing. I like the blue/black bezel. I guess the PROSPEX branding is comparable to the PROMASTER branding now on the CITIZEN. ...and to me it looks like a re-issue of the 6309-704x divers: To be released in May 2016 according to a post I found on reddit. The newer movements shit all over the 6105, which is, in essence, 1960's tech. The 7S26 and it's family are a considerably lower part count and aren't prone to all the bullshit issues the 61 series has, like chewed out barrel arbor pivots etc. Tech wise, they are an EFI engine compared to a carburetor. Smoother, sleeker, basically never need service and are better in every way. The 4R's are great, I have one in my ltd. edition 50th anniversary sports, and it's great. It's a really enjoyable watch. I've worn it heaps, never had an issue. I suppose i should clarify that when i said i'm not accustomed to these "new" movements i meant the modern stuff. I don't follow anything newer than 6309 or 7548 movements so i don't know anything about them.
By the sounds of it though they are very reliable and solid, and in a 200m diver case (i wonder if it'll be the modern crystal design that i've heard about from that Seiko watchmaker i know, or the screw down retainer like the 7c43?).. it should be a really good watch.
I also like how they retained the 6309 dial just with the different text.

Wow. About time. This is the first of Seiko's retro attempts over the past 2 years that actually interests me. Will need to see actual photos but I think I will be getting one next year, esp if that price holds true.
