I didn't see anything seriously wrong with this (beyond the stained dial, scratched up case and roughed up crown), and the seller said it works and loses less than 2 minutes a day, so I threw in the minimum bid of 9500 yen soon after it was listed. Well, the auction just ended and no one else bid?!? I have a coupon for free Buyee fee, so before shipping I got this for about US$80. Should I be happy? I sure like the hour markers and hands! - Thomas

Nice looking watch, but they obviously aren't very popular with the bidders. If it were from '66, I'd have you send it my way.

I think there are still bargain to be had... I just recently got a nice "Grey Ghost" for under 60 Euros - with a bad capacitor, of course - but changing it is not very complicated. Also, I'd like to think of this AGS Landmaster as a bargain (even though it was a tad more expensive at around 170 Euros): Sadly, the picture quality on yahoo is very low and often you can't spot if everything is alright - but these go for double the price usually.

Nice buy Thomas! I'm not at all jealous, it being my birth year watch and very nearly my birth month as well...

Nice little handwinder, but I always avoid the plated cases. They NEVER look as good in person as the do in the pics.

Live and learn I guess, thank you (and Rod) two for the education! And I have started to wonder about the weird looking lume in the seller's picture, like it was "painted" in using Photoshop! Perhaps not a bargain at all! I do like the hands and markers! Have I said that? - Thomas

For 170 Euro, I think you "stole" it Mr. Jones! It looks to be in great condition, and I think that is the "first offering" Kinetic Landmaster? - Thomas

That means it is plated brass, like the "SGP" cases, but the plating is silvertone instead of gold. Don't be discouraged. I have a couple of these...and they are nice little watches!

I have a couple of these...and they are nice little watches! I have a 1960's list somewhere..that explains these anachronisms. Before diving in and assuming, seiko offered cases with different tops, cases (sides) and case backs so you could have a Gold case, gold top and SS case back, So SGP is side gold plated. Knowing that chrome plating and stainless steel are connected, as stainless steel has a high Chromium content (up to 30%), the Japanese referred to chrome plating as Stainless steel plating (because of the content and also the look), so STP is stainless Steel top plate, the top not referring to the case top but, the top plating i.e. last coating on the case.
