Here's a dubious Seiko that's being advertised as "Near perfect and never renewed". The dial is a fake and the sub-dial hands are either replacement or badly repainted. Sweep hand is wrong, bezel insert is AM and case back is wrong. Seller says it wasn't pieced together, but it's just the opposite. All for the cheap price of $1300! Listing: 301832811285. That case back looks suspiciously like all those fakes with that same serial number plus it looks like all the script is laser etched; even the serial number!

Take a look at the Suwa symbol. It's a dead giveaway that this is a total Feiko. No movement shots either, so who knows what's inside.

OK. Let this serve as a lesson in buying on Ebay and the douchebaggeryness that goes on there. The watch. The Ebay auction www.ebay.com/itm/262141924678?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D262141924678%26_rdc%3D1Vintage Seiko 6105-8110 Runs--For parts or repair!!! Vintage Seiko 6105-8110, watch runs, keeps time for a while then stops. Head only no band. For parts or repair. I do not know if the dial, hands and bezel insert are original? Please feel free to ask any questions!! The other listing on TOF. www.thewatchsite.com/8-seiko-citizen-trading-post/194618-fs-seiko-6105-8110-375-a.html FS Seiko 6105-8110--$375 For sale is a Seiko 6105-8110. Aftermarket dial and hands and bezel insert. Runs and keeps time, date and time set, but stops occasionally. Might be a stem issue? Head only. Asking $375 shipped conus. Please feel free to ask any questions. This is the same shitty crooked business dealing tricks my boss pulls trying to dump lemon cars he buys by dumping them at the auto auction without disclosing the known issues. Buyer beware when dealing with sellers like this. I bought this watch. For over a year I have been looking for a reasonably priced 6105 and this one fit the bill. I was not sure what my plan was going to be when it arrived the seller included a Seiko band with end pieces fitted for a 6105 . I put the band on and set the watch it kept time until I went to bed when I woke up it had lost about 30 minutes. I sent it to Dr Seiko for a service and he said it looks good so the only thing I will to do to this watch is have it serviced. The aftermarket hands dial and bezel look original and I knew about them when I bought the watch and it was priced in my budget.

He might have $500 in an AM 6105, but at least it's serviced. I see unserviced AM examples going for more than $500US all the time so it would be easy to cash out if a good one comes along at the right price. What's more, I watched a case without bezel insert or crown sell for $577AUD last week and there's another (with insert and crown) currently sitting at $500AUD with a few days to go. In a few months that $500 is going to seem like a bargain (unless Seiko does the rumoured reissue next year and the bottom drops out).

"Serviced" really doesn't get you anything when trying to sell, unless you have documentation from a reputable person/facility. As far as reissues affecting vintage prices, I don't think that'll happen. Vintage will always be more sought after, and that will keep the prices high. Seiko will frequently miss the mark when loosely reissuing a classic piece, the recent "6309" is a perfect example.

That sure looks like an old 7009 movement, no ?
The hand set can go to good use, too. As part of a lot, it's a nice catch just for that reason alone.

Actually it was the best looking watch of the lot, the movement looks the same as a Seiko but the bridges look like tin plate even the balance cock looks like it was made from the lid of a jam tin. Does the case correspond to the case number on the case back? Should make a nice little modded Seiko when it gets a decent motor fitted. At least the dial looks half decent even if it is a fake. Max

Max I agree that this one is a 100% Feiko, but the fun thing is - Seiko did/does still make these 7S26 that look like old 7009: and they were "SKX" models SKX166 is nice, too:

Looking at the Seiko 6159 s on Ebay two of them look like the serial numbers look like the are hand stamped as they are not in line. Is this normal or has somebody altering them?

Looking at the Seiko 6159 s on Ebay two of them look like the serial numbers look like the are hand stamped as they are not in line. Is this normal or has somebody altering them? This is quite common. In fact, if you found a serial number that was all perfectly lined up, I would be suspicious of it. I would be more worried about proper dial, hands, bezel inserts and crystals. If you see something you like but want to ask questions; just post pictures from the auctions or seller's pages and folks here will give you the real break down of what's original and what is aftermarket. Don't post links though because they will be deleted :-/
