I can get with 3:00, 6:00, and even 9:00.....but not loving the 4:00.
What say you, yes or no?

I prefer no date watches if they are mechanical so I don't have to reset them every time I wear them.

If I could just find one of these, I could probably learn to live with it...

I've led a very sheltered life and only have Dates at 3. I've got Days at 3, 6 and 9 but no Dates except where they should be,as decided by a right handed person ?
But to answer the original question, No, it doesn't do it for me. Looks a bit odd to me.

4:00 is just fine with me.
For me, it's not really where the date is placed. It's how it goes together with the whole dial design and the overall aesthetic of the watch. A simple black on white or white on black color difference can be a deal breaker in some instances.

Nope 4.00 ain't for me. I could put up with a 6.00 but it would have to be the right watch. Something like this...

Not my favourite location, but, 4:00 is still better than 4:15...it has to have some symmetry...instead of one of the indices or exactly in between. (example- the albacore- fail!)

The majority of mine are at 3:00 but I do have a few at 4:00. I guess the location doesn't bother me too much, it's the legibility that sometimes bugs me: I can live with this one: But I can't read this one easily due to size:

Date-window placement makes no difference to me. PC and/or AT features are a desired convenience.

I don't like date at 4, unless it's done properly, i.e. date wheel printed so date is vertical in the window: Stephen

In the case of the Zenith Chrono or certain Seiko/other branded models, it's OK at 4:00 for me, because out of necessity the real estate on the dial at the 3:00 "proper position" is spoken for. So 4:00 works and so be it.
I do NOT like the 6:00 position 'to be different'. I also do not like a subdial with 31 stops - too hard to read and it seems like an unnecessary way to handle the date complication.
I do kind of like the 'extra second hand' approach where the date is indicated by a full size hand that rotates around the outer bezel with 31 separate stops.
