personally I like this diver inspired number... apparently Seiko call it the "Warden" let's see isnt a warden "an official charged with special supervisory duties or with the enforcement of specified laws or regulations" and this is a black PVD type that is battery powered ... all a bit military www.seikoclocks.com/retro.html

It's got one hell of a tick for a clock that's meant to live in the same room your sleeping in. Speaking as a guy who's been inside a few clocks over the years it's well made. Won it on evilBay I think.

I found a scrolling film clock on Yahoo.jp that I really wanted - it was red and very 60s. But alas, it took 110V and I didn't want a big humming power converter beside my pillow. Was similar to this, but even more retro styled:
