Hi all Just starting my 70s Seiko collection. Now have a 6139-7002 but looking about for some of the other 6139/8 classics. I guess I'm about 4-5 years too late to the party for some of these great watches Cheers luc

Welcome. From Newcastle (Aust) There are watches still sitting in people top drawers waiting to be found. The 6139 is a pretty solid way to start. Welcome. Cam

Welcome Luc, from Hobart. Never fear, with patience good 6138/9s can still be found at reasonable prices. Don't forget to get on board the diver train too :-)

Thanks for the kind welcome. I have a couple of 70s Omega Seamasters which started me on the journey. And when I was in Japan last year I got a couple of 007/009 divers as gifts for family. I really wish I had hunted as keenly for some older seikos there as I did for camera lenses and fountain pens I'm sure I'll end up with at least one diver, possibly a beater SKXj 007 or SRP 775 ... and I will probably need to try a tuna on the wrist before I look at many more of those online .. it looks huge and my wrists are small. Right now I'm reading up a little on the "Kakume" and "Yachtman/UFO" ... what a cool set of watches.

I've recently got a vintage 7549 Tuna on my wrist and it's fantastic. It wears much better than its size would suggest. I'd say it wears smaller than the Kakume (which I have too) because it sights tighter on the wrist. I'd love to try a yachtsman one day. Good choices.

Cameras!!! did someone say cameras, I've been doing film since the 1970's and still have most of the cameras I used back them, and still do. What lens were you chasing? And my Second (but the best for me) SLR.

Hi Rod Some lovely gear there. I was hunting down some used Olympus and Pentax lenses. Still shoot Pentax medium format film but am mostly digital these days I really wanted to "get into" medium format and was tempted, but it was the 1990's and digital was the way to go, so never took the plunge. Have you tried "Yahoo" for gear? Some find it hard to get their head around but once you do, there are some great buy's, lots of auto lens etc! My first SLR was a Pentax, it was bullet proof and basic, my mates were shooting Nikons/Cannons at the time and I succumbed to the peer pressure and went with the Nikon mount
