Recently I was in the right place at the right time and managed to pick up this beautiful and very rare Seiko Liner Chronometer.
I've only managed to do a small bit of research on it, but here is what I do know:
It sports a "460" movement that is hand-winding and hacking (and keeping spot on accurate time).
The movements all have their own serial numbers, which from what I can tell, do not correspond to the case serial numbers.
Speaking of serial numbers, my research shows these watches were made, seemingly, in July 1963, October 1963, and January 1964. All the serial numbers I found were 37xxxxx 30xxxxx and 41xxxxx.
They go by the item/stock number of 46999.
The lugs look to be 19mm but may be 18mm. The case measures approximately 35mm without the crown.
The case backs I've found have a lot of wear, and the medallion in a lot of them has wear as well.
There are some very interesting sources of information about this watch and its place in the Chronometer lineage of Seiko. I'm in the process of reading it all and once I do, I can update this thread. In the meantime, here are a few more photos:
Thanks for reading!
Dan

Wow, I REALLY like this piece. The design details are perfect, very minimalist/mid century modern. Congrats!

Aloha Sir,
Dan that is a very massive ..." Dial Code " to fine references too. But it is a real beauty too.
Glad you came to it before it was passed by. Waiting to see the Movement pictures it must be a ..... :winner: inside of that.
Aloha Sir Louis

Congrats! Your example looks great. You're right that the Liner Chronometer is quite uncommon. Much slimmer no-date sibling to the 43999. Only suggestion would be to replace the crown. Mine was even more worn: ... but with a new crown your watch will look new: Also, yeah the lugs are 19mm, the diameter is 35.5mm and the watch is ~ 9.5mm thick.
