Huh, I am constantly amazed at the variety of Seikos out there. I stumbled onto an image of a golden Seiko dress watch that had simply the SEIKO upper dial logo and the word Automatic in the lower half, but I could not see a dial code in the image. There was also a case-back picture but it was very blurry. It looked like model number started with 7002, which didn't seem right. But that's all I had to go one so I started searching and found it, it is a 7002-8000, and it looks like there is another similar model the 7002-8010 Seiko 7002-8000
Seiko 7002-8010I had no idea!?!? What a simple elegant watch! Did you folks know about this? It looks like it belongs to the modern SARB line, in my opinion. - Thomas

The crown appears to be the same on both watches.
While the stepped crown may appear a cosmetic match for the second watch it is definitely wrong for the fist case.
Where is the seller located?

"... the fist case..."? I'm not sure I understand Josh, I found several image sources for the 7002-8000 and they all had that crown. But I only found that one set of pictures for the 7002-8010. For which watch do you think the crown is wrong? - Thomas

The dial seemed to stand out from the norm with the bevelled, domed crystal. To be honest there in nothing I don't like about it.

Well, it's good to hear the crown looks right on the 7002-8000, because I just snapped this one up for US$30 Woohoo! I am very happy!! And over on TOF a gentleman linked this search page that indicates there were at least three of these 7002-8000 models, a black dial in a silver case (SDS011), a silver dial with golden hands and numerals in a silver case (SDS009) and the gold on gold I just bought (SDS014). Seiko Oceania Catalogue SearchOkay, on to my next conquest! - Thomas

Excellent score! Never expected that there were other 7002 models our there! I'd love to come across one of the SS cased models.

I know this is an old thread, but I just learned which watch Seiko was copying with the 7002-8000: No too bad!

Wow, if the JLC was first, it's hard to deny the "inspiration"!
Like the Sinn (856?) and the Seiko Spork, hard to not "see"!

It looks like it belongs to the modern SARB line, in my opinion. In my opinion, it looks like it'll end up in your collection.
I'm collecting bets. Whose in?

For some reason I've seen this watch twice today. I don't think it means anything, does it?

To be fair to Seiko (and to JLC) that dial design aesthetic was very popular in the 50s and early 60s. Seiko was just as likely inspired by these rather than the JLC (and JLC was likely inspired by the countless Omegas, Longines, Elgins, etc., which bore nearly identical dials). Tis a beaut', though.

Ha-ha! You win, I already have several examples, at least one of each model, in my collection!
