Thanks to whoever made this.
Looks great.
That style of Art Deco design is my favourite. It looks confident and optimistic!

I agree. I am a fan of art Deco / predepression era style / design / lifestyle. I also like the post war / jet age styling before America started to go downhill fast. One of these days I will finally get my CT half dollar. The Bridgeport / PT Barnum is cheaper. Both are on my next list.

I visit almost exclusively via Tapatalk so wasn't aware of the new banner. Very cool.

Is the banner a special edition, or ... ? I'm not really seeing the connection to Japanese watches? I don't want to be negative about the work that has been done, it's great, but I should confess that I don't care for Art Deco much, especially when it makes me think of the totalitarian regimes of the past. Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts movement get my vote instead, though they're probably just as un-Japanese?

Huh, just noticed this. Has a vibe reminiscent of murals produced by WPA artists in the US during the Great Depression

Note the tools, factory and workers in the tableau. The banner often has a non-Japanese look to it.

It's a special Labor Day banner, submitted by tegger.

Why does the tree have boobies, arms, a face in the crotch and the head of the Cheetos Cheeta

Why does the tree have boobies, arms, a face in the crotch and the head of the Cheetos Cheeta I think you should stay away from bright shiny objects Peter. First you see human embryo's in Lady Liberty's hair and now you are see monsters in trees

Thanks all for the compliments.
The banner is indeed meant to commemorate Labor Day. No, it does not have a watch-y or Japanese-y look, but it does have a holiday-y look, which was the intent.
I was trying for a gritty, industrial, 1930s look, just...because. While playing around with ideas, the Art Deco/Streamline Moderne motif seemed interesting graphically, and seemed to be a good fit with the spirit of the event. There is zero political message from me in the banner, I just think the style looks cool.
Time permitting, I was going to submit a Halloween-themed idea next; this one would have a watch within its elements.
