I can't stand rugby...there are no pee breaks Actually; I quite enjoy watching live games. My younger brother is a University Rugby coach and general manger. He has eaten; slept and dreamed rugby ever since he discovered it. He dropped a football(American football) scholarship and took up rugby. He eventually became a phys ed teacher and started his high school into the rugby world. In their first year; he took them to the champion ships and kept them in the top two positions for 13 years! And while doing that; he also coached a couple of national league teams; the under 19s and the under 21s. Both franchises won many championships. He is now manager and head coach of the University of Western Washington's rugby department. In their first year; he took them from having no teams to champion ships. He didn't do this all by himself; he just has a way with the students and players that works. It probably helps that he earned his Masters degree on a rugby education thesis. Kids and young adults vie for a chance to be on one of his teams. Fortunately; I know he is not interested in being part of a large professional organization...he loves the game for what it is and what it can do for the players; both on and off the field thunbsup.gif

I haven't played since I was sixteen, it got too tough for me as we became heavier & stronger & playing on a rock hard frozen pitch covered in dog crap & broken glass just lost it's appeal for some reason. Love watching a good international match, those guys are super tough being able to take the all hard knocks with only a jock-strap for protection. They're the complete opposite to our Premiership footballers who fall over on the pitch writhing in pain if an opponent so much as looks at them the wrong way.

My bro played for a local team at the amateur level for several years. He was 6'3" and about 260lbs at the time. He was one of the smaller guys on the team and they all had nicknames like Dozer; Dump truck; and Demolition man. Needless to say; they won more than they lost rolling-lol I remember one day, meeting my brother after one of their Coors sponsored after game celebrations...he had a perfectly shaped cut on his forehead that looked just like the beer can he crushed there. The idea was to crush empty cans as a sign of manliness but one of his buddies slipped him a fill one that hadn't been opened yet. Sure enough; he collapse the can just as was intended but with the can being full and under pressure...it left a mark and several other guys with a beer shower laugh1.gif
