I have been on the hunt for a reasonably priced Military 7A28 Chronograph, sadly I've had no such luck. I am curious how many on here have one or are on the hunt for one? Anyone found a different Seiko Chronograph to satisfy? I am more familiar with the Seiko divers than I am with the Seiko Chronographs.

Because of the military connection the GEN 1 7A28-7120 is very collectable and therefore demand is high, and supply finite.
Prices have always been high, but seem to be climbing a bit (along with just about every 'vintage' Seiko) so £700+ has become the norm now.
I've serviced 6 in the last 12 months (5 since January).

I have a 7a28-7020 'Bond Chrono' and a -7090 'Yacht Timer', and have thought about picking up a Gen 1 in the past, but so far haven't been that motivated.
For vintage Seiko chronographs, I think the 6138/6139 offer a lot more value.

I've recently got into the 7Ax8 series and have found that even for the more common ones prices seem to be very high for pieces in good condition. And from what research I have been able to do, there are an awful lot of frankens out there masquerading as originals.

That's a really nice collection you have there Mr.Jones. I'd be happy wearing any of those.

Thanks, tritto - I'm always envious of Simon's projects. He got some really nice 7As going lately. I'm more for the "mainstream" 7As - but there are also some more outlandish watches like the Bishop (... and most of the Giugiaro models...).

If you're dead set on a military chrono don't forget that a model from the Seiko sub brand Pulsar also was issued as a RAF Gen 1 watch and currently fetches somewhat lower prices than the 7A28 watch.

I do like the original Bishop and Ripley, although I'm not sure how often they'd get onto my wrist if I'm honest which is why I tend to search for the more 'normal' versions. And some of the normal ones are absolutely stunning as can be seen from your earlier post Mr.Jones and by some of the ones I've seen posted by siralan in the past too.

I do like the 7A28 and 7A38 but find the non bezel models usually a bit small for me. Some of mine.... WOW that yellow dial has me now on the look out. I may need to take out a loan, but WOW! While not my original I got from my parents for Christmas 1982? Because being young and dumb when they couldn't re-sink the hands to zero I gave up and never returned to the store to pick it up, after taking it back too many times. Here's the physical replacement but not the sentimental one.

Here's my 7A28-702A, it's one of the few 7A28 that, like the RAF, has lugs. I'd love to get the RAF, but this will have to do in the meantime...

Oh Lordy, this thread is full of beauty and temptation. I may need to go to church for absolution or exorcism or something.
